sweating post c-section

I don't know about you ladies, but since my c-section a few weeks ago I've been sweating up a storm! ?Is this normal for everyone post-birth (vaginal or c-section)? ?It's particularly bad at night...I'll wake up and literally have soaked through my pajamas and need to change them. ?Ugh! ?On the one hand I'm enjoying it, because it's made my swelling go down a ton, but on the other hand I'm just pretty grossed out. ?

Re: sweating post c-section

  • Yeah, I thought I was dying after my section.  I would wake up soaked.  When I asked people about it they said it ws normal.  I guess it is one of those things no one tells you.  They can tell you about every other disgusting thing that will happen to you, but not sweating???  I am still hot a lot, but the sweating has gotten better.  Are you BFing?  I think that is why it has lasted so long for me because I am still going strong.

  • Oh, yes, it is normal...it's your hormones regulating.  I sweat so much at night you should see my hair in the morning!!!

Ladies, my mom advised me it's a glimpse of menopause.  ACK!

  • Very normal.  I had horrible night sweats the first few weeks post delivery (vaginal).  It's partly your hormones and partly your body trying to get rid of all that excess fluid you stored during pregnancy.  It will go away, I promise!

  • I was SO hot during the first few days after my c-section. I was drenched in sweat, and I turned the a/c on full blast in my hospital room. I was literally dripping, and all of my visitors' teeth were chattering. About 3 or 4 days after my c-section my internal thermostat somewhat regulated, and I stopped needing to be in a freezing cold room. It probably took a good 2-3 months for the crazy sweating to start slowing down, but I'm still BFing and I'm still sweatier than I was prepregnancy.
  • I delivered vaginally, but I was super hot those first couple weeks too.  I delivered in the middle of winter and was walking around in shorts and a tank top all the time.  I think it was a mix of hormones, bfing (their little bodies were like heaters!), and we had the heat on super high at night to help the babies regulate their temps.

Makes me really glad I didn't have them in the middle of summer;)
