Clothes.... Fold or hang?

I know this is a dumb question but I can't help but wonder what everyone is else is doing with all the clothes you have for your LO.

Will you primarily fold the clothes or have them hung in the closet? Or will only certain things be hung and other folded.

Re: Clothes.... Fold or hang?

  • I'm not hanging cotton pants (like the ones that go with onesis), unless it has a matching top. I'm not hanging sleepers or sleep gowns, but hanging everything else.

  • I'm folding everything, except for bulky items like jackets or coats.
  • I've changed DD's clothing as to what's hanging and folded almost every time she's changed sizes or season.

When she was newborn we had mostly onesies and only a few outfits so I hung everything. As she got older we had more outfits then onesies so I hung outfits and folded onesies. We've always folded cotton pants and pj's. I just remember what outfits pair with what.

I folded towels, onesies, pants that go with onesies were in drawer. Outfits and sets are hung in closet. I still do that to this day with Mia's clothes. Well no onesies for her of course.

This is what I will do.  I already have some outfits hanging in the closet, lol.

  • Right now I have pretty much everything I bought her hung up... which almost fills her closet! Once we get her furniture, then I will only hang the "go out" outfits...I have a ton of sun dresses and other little dresses or dressy rompers that I will keep in the closet.  All sleepers, onsies, etc. will go in her dressers.

  • I just like folding stuff better.  I will probably only hang fancier things, coats, and the like.  But for everyday items, in the drawers!  :)
  • Our closet is full of our stuff, so we have a dresser and a small wardrobe for the baby's clothes. We're folding everything and things like blankets and extra diapers and such will go in the little wardrobe.

  • We fold pants, shorts and sleep wear, we hang everything else.

  • I will be only using the closet so most things will be hung, we do have a closet organizer so there is some shelf space for things like shoes and folded pants and things. Also we have a few drawers in the unit we are using for a change table base that will hold things like socks, hats, panty hoes, etc.

  • fold.  we moved into a one bedroom with a den 5 days before we found out we were pregnant......    so everything will have to be folded and put into drawers. we have 2 closets and we use one for clothes and the other for food, laundry, etc.  not much room....
  • With my daughter I folded pants, onesies, etc.. & hung up all her fancier going out clothes.. She had allot of dresses & you can't really fold dresses, but that's just my preference & how I did things..

  • When DS was little I folded most everything. It's so tiny it doesn't fit well on hangers! Plus as a winter baby he lived in a onesie and sleeper all day.

The only stuff I hung was "special" outfits or shirts, sweatshirt/ hoodie things- that type of stuff.

    HTH!

  • Right now we have everything hung up or thrown in a big tub. Once we move the dresser into the bedroom I will start trying to figure out how things work best. I imagine I will end up doing this several times to figure out where everything will go.

Blankets will go in the drawer under the crib.

We have a little rubbermaid cart that has three drawers we will put socks and booties in one, hats and mittens in another and bibs in the last one.

    Outfits we will hang.

Our top dresser drawer will have all of the cloth diapers in it. Second drawer will be sleep saks and pjs and bottom drawer will be onesies and pants.

Everything else we will have to figure something out for the closet.

For towels we will have them folded and put in the bathroom linen closet and wash cloths will go in a little tub.

  • We don't have much closet space, so I would say mostly fold. I do have about 20 things hung up so far, but things like onesies and cotton pants will be folded.

  • We fold everything, except for his coats, which we hang with ours. We admittedly don't have a closet, but we chose not to buy a wardrobe. I thought it was more practical to buy a chest of drawers.

This. I have hung up the two dresses (that I got on clearance) but everything else is in the dresser. I can fold quicker than hang stuff up on those teeny little hangers. Also, her changing station will be on top of the dresser, so it makes it easier to access her clothes.

I guess it depends on our closet situation. I've seen our new apt but I don't remember it and we won't be there until September to look again. However, I expect we'll not hang much. My sister, who is a pretty neat person, had her twin sons' clothes essentially stuffed into drawers (not even really folded) and they looked FINE. So we'll probably do that. I mean, you can't really fold tiny clothes anyway. That would be like folding my underwear, which I have never in my life done. But it's never wrinkled, either.

The child will probably have a few dress-up clothes that can be hung. But I think everything else can be stuffed for at least a year or two before the clothes get big enough to actually fold.
