All those cute little newborn dresses in her closet...

Avery was given so many cute little dresses and outfits at our shower, but I really have no idea when she's ever going to wear them. She's only 2 weeks old, and we are pretty much just in the A/C in the house since it has been in the 90s/100, so she is in pants/long sleeves and a blanket. Even if we were to go out, it would be to somewhere with A/C, and the A/C is on in the car.

So, does your DD wear those cute little outfits, and where/when? I feel like I need to put her in them just for pictures!!

  • I put her in them and then put a sweater over it.  We also don't have our ac up very cold.  She wears outfits everyday, sometimes 2 a day.

Where are you finding sweaters? I can't find separates - everything is sets!

  • Most of the things we received still do not fit DD. By the time they do fit, summer will be over. I dress her in a cute onesie almost everyday, and cover her with a receiving blanket when we are A/C.
  • LO wears cute dresses/outfits anytime we leave the house and she goes in the car seat.  She gets soo hot in there.  At home in the AC she wears at least a onesie and pants & socks or often times a sleeper.
  • My 2 week old Avery wears hers. We've also had to go back & forth to the doctor & labs due to Jaundice. Whenever we go somewhere we put her cute onesies/dresses/outfits on her. Might as well get some use out of them
  • We didn't get many 0-3 outfits (her current size) because we were team green.  Even now, people have gotten us 3-6 month outfits, so nothing fits yet.  Most days she wears a short-sleeve onesie and we cover her legs with a blanket.

My worry is that all the 3-6 month stuff we've received is mostly summer dresses, and by the time they fit her, it won't be summer anymore.

Last night we dressed her up for the first time because we went to a wedding.  She looked so cute in a dress!

  • She's definitely cold - her poor feet are freezing when she's exposed/when I'm changing her. The home nurse came a few days ago and even mentioned that she could use another layer! I'm going to look around for some cardigans - I havent' seen any in the stores yet but will keep looking!

  • Gymboree is expensive, but I was in there the other day (hooray for gift cards!) and they had a few cardigans.

  • I'm the same way but also because we got a ton of really cute 0-3 and 3-6 month summer outfits and scarlet is 6 weeks and still in newborn clothing!  I KNOW she will never get to the 3-6 month summer outfits!

My LO is hot-natured,so she's happy as a clam in the a/c in whatever I put her in. I just make sure she has socks on (her feet get cold). Are you sure LO is cold?

Ditto. I just make sure I have blankets and a sweater for when we go out and about. But even then she's usually in her car seat, which has polyester fabric and she rarely gets cold.

  • With my first DD and probably with this DD as well, I just had a photo shoot with her pretty dresses.  I would take her out in the ones that weren't too frilly but otherwise she would go in them for a pic and them back into her comfy clothes.
  • Only for pictures! I put her in a onsie and sleeper he rest of the time. I had a HUGE bag full of baby clothes that I recently took into consignment because she wears the same 10 outfits.
  • We go somewhere almost every day so she wears them then. At home she's in just a diaper. We don't turn our A/C on often.

  • We went on an 11 road trip 2 weeks ago because FIL had a 6 bypass surgery. LO met DH's side of the family then, so we dressed her up each day she was there.

Other than that, she mainly only wears a dress when we take her to church. Ironically, most people at my church wear jeans or shorts, but it's fun to have a reason to dress her up. :)

  • My LO wears hers. Whenever we go anywhere I put her in the cute outfits.
  • We mostly have and use onesies, even when we go out. LO hates to be changed, so I don't bother aggravating him any more than he needs to be. I think we only have 2 or 3 outfits from 0 - 3 mos.

I do have a friend who changed her baby about 15 times ina row for her to take pix. I think my LO would be red in the face for every pic.  I wish he was better at it.  Maybe someday...sigh
