Anyone try to switch to feeding before naps...?

...instead of after?

Because of his massive amount of spitups, DS is supposed to keep somewhat up right and calm for about 30 minutes after he eats.  We usually do this by putting him in his swing since he gets too bouncy even in our arms.  The swing isn't going to work for him much longer.

We had been doing a loose version of EASY, but since all of his sleeping surfaces are elevated at the head, I'm wondering if it wouldn't make more sense to feed him then put him down for a nap.  Otherwise, he loses a large part of play time staying "calm".

The only problem is that we are in a natural routine of eat, play, sleep, eat, play, sleep...etc.

Any ideas?  TIA

  • I don't feed before naps, because I don't want LO to get into the habit of having to eat to fall asleep.  Even during the "calm" time, you can read, sing, etc.

  • I nurse DS to sleep for both bed and naps. The only catch is sometimes he falls asleep sooner so he has less to eat so he's hungry sooner after waking. If this doesn't bother you, then go for it. GL

I think we're safe from not getting into the need to eat habit, I'm not worried about that.  He goes to sleep at this point wide awake and "talking" to the mobile.  He gave up all of his crutches by himself and before I was ever worried about it.  He's very independent in that area.

But I can only hold him when he's wanting to be calm during that time after bottles - which is what my issue was and why I was asking.  If he's full of energy, he'll sit better in the swing where he's being stimulated without getting an upset tummy (swing is gentle enough).  At this point, when he's being held he usually wants to jump which would equal lots of spitup.

So, I was asking more to see if anyone else has similiar issues and had to do the same thing. If they did, I wanted to know how.
