Good Morning! Book recs?

HI ladies! I just posted as a newbie recently...and hopefully I'll be sticking around here for about 7.5 more months! :o)

Just wanted to know if you had any good book recs for a first time expectant mommy? I have gotten mixed review on WTEWYE...so not sure if I want to get it or not. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I had my first u/s yesterday...it was so amazing and I saw the tiny bean's little flicker of a heart beat! Such a great feeling! I am nauseated throughout most of the day but try to eat crackers between meals. I don't have much of an appetite but I still eat of course. I'm on a prenatal vitamin and just had my very first "middle of the night bathroom trip" last night! :o)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far!

  • Congrats on seeing the h/b!

Your Pregnancy Week by Week is pretty good.  I didn't really like WTEWYE, but I felt it was necessary to have on hand.  I did like What to Eat While You're Expecting.  I liked Pregnancy and Birth, Your Questions Answered for the illustrations.  For fun reads I liked The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy and Belly Laughs.  Baby Bargains for buying baby stuff.  Oh, and I love the Dr. Sears series, there are a few books of his that are relevant to pg, BFing, and babies.

Congrats again on your little miracle!!

  • i also enjoyed your pg week by week... also if you want a cute pg book, i enjoyed the jenny mccarthy book
  • Thank you ladies! I read Belly Laughs quite awhile back - I really enjoyed it - she's hilarious! Thanks for the other ideas - we're headed to the bookstore today!
  • Congrats on seeing the hb!  :)

I also liked Your Pregnancy, Week By Week.  And if you're looking for weekly e-mail updates, I subscribed to BabyCenter.com and AmericanPregnancy.org.

  • Congrats on seeing your little bean's heartbeat and on your first of many middle of the night bathroom trips!  I have the Mayo Clinic Guide to Pregnancy which tells you what's happening week by week to the baby and month by month you (symptoms, emotions, etc.)  I also really enjoyed The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy and Baby Bargains.  I've heard Baby 411 is great for baby care and can't wait to start reading it!  Hope that helps!
