How to count formula oz?

So, when I make a bottle of formula, I put in the 6 oz of water, then three scoops of powder. When I mix it up, the powder increases the volume to closer to 7 oz. Now, if baby drinks the whole thing, so you consider this 7 oz or 6 oz? I've been counting it as 6, but not sure if that's right.

I consider it 6 too. I don't pay attention to what it goes up to, just what I measure it at beforehand.

I only count it as the amount of liquid I put in.

I would count it as 6oz. I think the volume looks as though it has increased just from the foam that shaking creates. Once it settles, it's 6 oz.

I usually count an extra half ounce. But I'm pretty sure you're just supposed to count the amount of liquid in the bottle before the powder, depsite the displacement.

No, our Good Start doesn't foam at all and it goes up to 7 oz. I still count it as 6.

The Similac that I use states that 23 oz of water and 1 cup of powder makes 26 oz of formula. I mix a batch at night then pour into bottles in the am. I pour to 5 oz and record as a 5 oz bottle. I would assume that this is how they measure the premade formula. Its mixed at the factory and placed in a bottle at that # of oz not the # of oz of water they used to start the mixing process.
