My doc gave me the choice of quitting my Prometrium/Endometrin at 12
weeks, but said optimum would be 13 weeks. Seriously, do I REALLY need
to stay on it that long?
It's making me absolutely freaking
miserable and I'm wondering if I'll starting feeling less nauseous if I
stop taking it. Or should I just grin and bear it citing that I would
beat myself up if anything were to happen to the babies??

my RE said I could stop PIO at 8 weeks... that kinda scared me, so I dropped to a half dose for one more week, and then quit. so I was off of progesterone all together at 9 weeks.
My mantra with all of this is not to do anything that would cause you to unnecessarily blame yourself if something unthinkable were to happen. If you'd regret stopping, then keep going. If you feel in your heart that the extra week won't do any harm, then go ahead and stop. Do whatever feels right to you!
Because we're fancy like that.
10 weeks for me...actually more like 10 1/2 b/c I used the rest up and then stopped, but my doc said that 10 weeks was good.
13 weeks seems outragous! I do agree with ladychicago, though--do what feels right!!
Is there a reason your Dr is recommending such a long time? (do you have a history of low p4-- or because it's twins?) Sounds like you are not on PIO? I went on the suppositories once I got my BFP and stayed on it for 10 weeks.
I'm a reasonably compliant patient so I would probably stick with it but the reality is that most people are not on any P4 and have perfectly healthy pregnancies-- of course, you could just be feeling nauseous because you are pregnant and stopping it may not help that at all....I realize I am not helpful at all-- sorry!
Good luck making your decision!
My RE had me take them until I was 9 wks. Once I met w/ my ob it was told to her if any of my levels dropped I was to go back on them.
I stayed on until 10w. I DID feel better for a bit after getting off the Endometrin, but unf. my m/s came back and stayed until about 16w. I was on Zofran too the whole time.
Good luck!
