Job rejection sucks

I guess I just forgot the feeling.  Or, actually, I don't think I have been in this exact position before.  My company was acquired so my job is gone in 2 months.  I had a really good interview last week (took pretty much all day) and great feedback.  I just got a call saying they have decided not to move forward. I really liked this opportunity Sad I have another interview set up this week at a place much more like my current company, but I am just not all that excited about much of it besides the compensation.  Maybe I will learn more and will be excited about it after the interview.  In any case...this isn't any fun and is completely stressing me out to the point that it's starting to have physical ramifications.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Job rejection sucks

  • Searching for a job sucks in and of itself.  Rejection is just that much harder.

Hang in there.  The right opportunity will come your way.

Thanks.  I know it will.  There is also an issue of TTC #2 that is bugging me.  We were going to start a couple months ago, but didn't for obvious reasons.  I really want to be somewhere long enough to be protected by FMLA, but my time is just running out, honestly.  I know it isn't literally, but it feels like it b/c it took so long with DS and I am not getting any younger. We also don't want too much time between them (DS is 20 months). Not the end of the world, but just adding to my stress.

I have always said there is nothing more depressing than a job hunt.  Something good will turn up!  Hang in there!

  • I'm sorry - that really does suck.  I hate job rejection too - especially when you need the position!  Hope the next opportunity is better than you expect!
  • I'm so sorry because I know how it feels.  I think you should count yourself lucky that you got a phone call letting you know, because in my current job search experience I have not received a single rejection phone call/email/letter - nothing.  I just know because I never hear back.  I had 3 interviews for one position and they all went really well, oh we'll get back to you soon, blah blah blah.  Then nothing.

Just send me a form email saying, "We've decided to hire someone else.  Thank you for your time."  That's all I need really.  Closure.  Is that so hard???????

Sorry to rant in your post.  But I feel your pain, I really do.  Good luck with your search!

  • I am sending you a private message in regards to a job opportunity. I hope you'll be able to check it out! Thanks.
  • At least you are not the Bachelorette . . . "I gave up everything"  . . . to be dumped on national t.v.  Now, that really sucks!
