If you make your own laundry detergent... ???

What bar soap do you use?  Do you use what is cheapest? Why do you use what you use?   I have extremely dry skin & want to make sure I get something that won't make me itch more than I already do.

I find that making soap with soap nuts is quickest and easiest and can be used on CDs and regular laundry.  They're also pretty cheap.

  • I use Fels Naptha.  I like the scent and I think it works well.  I keep a bar at my wash tub to rub on stains.  It has taken tons of stuff out.  Coffee, grass, misc. food, etc.

Ok - so I was just looking over the recipe you have on the blog. How much do all those ingredients cost?  And what do you store it all in?

  • I'm thinking around 60 for the whole thing of laundry detergent.  I store it in a 5 gal bucket.  I use a tbs per load.
