Hoping someone has gone through something similar and can offer some advice/insight.
Had my CD3 b/w and u/s today (I know I'm on CD4 but I was out of town yesterday and they said today would be fine). On my left ovary they saw a corpus luteum which they always seem to see one on that side, and they also saw the cyst that has been there forever. Apparently my cyst is acting up because my estrogen levels, while a TAD high last cycle at 101, were way high today at 309. So basically the cyst is producing hormones and I can't start clomid.
The nurse said what I need to do is get another ovidrel shot and give that to myself today or tomorrow. (Mind you, my nurse has ALWAYS given me the shot so I have to research how to do this...) Then I need to go back in on Saturday morning to make sure the ovidrel is doing its job in making the cyst shrink/go away and have another u/s and more b/w. She said I should then get another period in about 2 weeks...and THEN we can hopefully move forward.
I'm completely bummed that we have to basically be benched on the sidelines right now. Not that I should be surprised.
For anyone who's had a canceled cycle b/c of a cyst, did you do the same type of protocol? Did you get an early period because of it? <sigh>
Re: Canceled cycle due to cyst...anyone help?
I've had a cyst and they put me on BCP's for a month. That made the cyst shrink (but not go away fully). I haven't heard of doing an Ovidrel shot. Not that they're wrong, I've just never heard of it.
It does suck being on the sidelines but they do it because if you continue with the cycle whatever meds your taking could make the cyst grow and it could eventually rupture. I hope the shot works and your back in the game asap!
I've had to cancel a cycle due to cysts. As pp said, they put me on BCPs for a month and then the cysts were gone, so we went ahead with IUI the very next cycle. I have not heard of taking an Ovidrel shot to assist.
Hope it works for you!! GL!!
I haven't had a cyst but I wanted to say I am sorry. Delay's of any kind totally bite.
I hope this ends up being a short cycle for you and that the ovidrel shot works! It is SUPER easy peezy...DH did it for me and I seriously did not even feel it.

SAIF/PAIF Welcome
Lots of love and luck to my PAIF/3T/IF Veteran ladies, especially my dear friend Zookie. Congrats to Papps, Teach84 and Starbuck on their little ones.
Is it a cyst or a residual follicle from the prior cycle? I had a left over follicle from the previous cycle when I started this one. My #'s were still in line so they let me continue, but otherwise she told me I would have to sit out a cycle but that may explain the Ovidrel--maybe to get it to release an egg if there was one and then it will diminish....not sure.
The Ovidrel shot is easy. I was kind of freaking out at first about having to do it, but its a fairly small needle and you just stick it in your stomach by your belly button. I didn't even feel it.
It's what they've always called a "dermoid cyst". So far it hasn't been an issue but apparently now it's starting to produce hormone of its own.
I guess I'm not as concerned about giving myself the shot (my neighbor friend who went through IF actually offered to give it to me herself b/c she's given herself the shot multiple times) as I am about what will happen with the cyst. I hope it goes away, and we truly are able to start over in 2 weeks. I have a bad feeling that's not going to happen.

Granted that I do ovulate regularly.
I've never heard /read before about using a trigger shot to "resolve" a cyst. And the way I understand the hcg shot will stimulate your ovaries to produce progesterone and maintain the corpus luteum during LP. But being that your on cd3 I don't understand it. But I'm not a doctor.
I would encourage you to ask the why's and such to your RE, and then share it with us
And the shot is easy if you've seen how the nurse does it for you. Good luck!

Yeah I will definitely find out the "why" behind this. DH and I actually have a WTF appt next week with our RE (this was made before I found out this cycle was going to be canceled or delayed or whatever it is) to talk about our path forward if our next and last clomid cycle doesn't work. I will find out all kinds of details at that appt about what I'm going through right now too. I can ask on Saturday when I go back in, but I feel like I'll get a better answer (and be able to process everything better) when I'm face to face with my doctor rather than on the table with the dildo cam shoved up there.
