We are thinking of moving next summer to Albany (area) anyone want to steer me in the right direction towards the good neighborhoods? DH will be working downtown so anything within a 45 minute commute.
I haven't been in 5 years. DH's parents live 2 hours from there.
We go in Aug for 2 weeks to check it out.
thanks. I will head over to the local board and ask as well but it seemed slow.

Thank you! We have my IL's going to search out the area as well. We have heard great things about the schools so we have high hopes that this area would be a better fit (except in the winter).
We were told about this area! We have a realtor thank you! We were trying to cut down her search area!
We are kind of in between living in the city or possibly an old farm house. I don't know how much rural I can take. We are 30 minutes from a major city now and it has been tough.
It takes dh about 45 minutes to drive to downtown Albany for work. There are several different routes you can take depending on where in Albany you need to go. He's gotten used to it & the awesome school makes it worthwhile. There are malls and stores in Saratoga Springs which is about a 10 minute easy drive.
Whatever you do avoid living in Albany because the schools suck even though they say they are good....lots of inner city problems spill into the schools.
Loudonville is nice but make sure you get into north colonie school district and NOT south colonie school district.
Thank you!
We have a friend that lives in Ballston Spa and she highly recommends it, but we are really looking for an older home like built before 1915 and under 300k. I see homes that are beautiful there but fairly pricey.
Everything we are seeing that we like is a huge commute and way under our budget. damn
I'm in Clifton Park/Halfmoon. (My mailing address is Waterford but Halfmoon doesn't have a Post Office so half of the town gets a Clifton Park zip and the other Waterford...don't get me going- lol!)
I love the area where I live. Very kid friendly too. We're about 20-25 minutes north of downtown. I actually go down there often where my friend hosts a kareoke to a live band thing at a local bar.
Let me know when you're in town- maybe we could do a meetup with Kris
