Well, first I called my sister because I had been crying for days - non-stop. She told me to hang up and call my OB. I went into the OB's office and they had me go up to the mental health dept. They had someone waiting there for me. I met with her for about an hour and they put me on Zoloft and gave me some Ativan to help until the Zoloft kicked in.
Definatley call your OB - you don't have to suffer.

I went to my doctor first and he put me on meds that I was on a few years ago. They didn't help post-partum.
I ended up breaking down at work and opening up to my co-worker who is also a Nurse Practitioner. She started me on other meds and does some talk therapy with me. I've been seeing her regarding my depression since.
I called my OB. She had me come in and speak with her (she also specializes in PPD) she started me on meds and set me up with a referral to the mothers psychiatry offices.
Hi Dreamsicle (fellow Bostonian) Congrats on the baby~!
I'm having trouble too. I had prozac ready to go since I have a history of depression. However, I wasn't expecting the insomnia and anxiety. I started with my OB for sleep meds but also asked them for a psychiatric referral. My appointment is unfortunately not until August but if ypu are in Boston proper you can probably get to see someone sooner since there are so many in counseling. I also saw a naturopathic doctor and started on magnesuium (regulates hormones) and B comples.
