I read about using them awhile back, and I didnt care too much, or give it much thought. But after watching The Great Sperm Race last night with DH we want to try them. We have preseed but egg whites are natural and not 'made' like preseed is..
So has anyone tried it? Or know anyone who has?
Edited to add, I very rarely see EWCM.

Although it is talked about in TCOYF, I have read that it can cause infections, which would for sure NOT help ttc efforts. Perhaps Pre-Seed might be good for you.
ETA -ahh I see that you do use the PreSeed... I think I would stick with that, it seems safer.

Sounds icky.
This exactly!!

We use preseed, I mentioned it in my original post..
But it doesnt stretch like EWCM does, or like egg whites do. Egg whites seem to be the closest thing to EWCM, not preseed, to me at least.
Not trying to be snarky, but how can something that comes out of a chicken work to reproduce humans? I get that the consistancy is the same... but really?
ETA: Grammar
They do talk about it in TCOYF. I would not try it though.
I drink at least 2 cups of hot green tea a day, caffeine free too. No changes.
Yeah, I'm seriously wondering how that would work. Seems odd.
Couldn't agree more!
It sounds like your mind is made up to use egg whites. So like I previously stated, hope you have fun with all that.

it actually makes sense to me. we're all animals, it's probably the same chemical make-up or whatever. i wouldn't do it b/c of infections, but it doesn't make me squeamish.
Kind of makes me think of Jurassic Park, where they filled the gaps in Dino DNA w/that of a frog, and then the park went crazy!
Don't have a chicken baby OP!
This!
I can't get past the gross factor, but I do see your reasoning. Didn't TCOYF mention letting them sit at room temperature first? Because cold egg whites don't sound conducive to sexy time.
Good luck!
Yep, youre supposed to leave it sit until room temperature, and then crack the egg open and separate it. You have to make sure not to get any yellow with the whites to use, and you have to use it immediately after cracking and separating.
And once the egg is actually in hand and I'm separating it I might not be able to get past the gross factor either lol. But right now, I'm willing to try it.
Thanks!
Yikes, this!

How do you get it in there? turkey baster? spoon?
I'm sure there is some legitimacy to it, but it sounds incredibly messy and uncomfortable.
I think if my husband saw me cracking eggs and playing with them before hopping into bed he would look a little something like this
LOL!
growing a foosa
Haha, my DH is on board for this. Hes willing to try it also. He might actually help me separate the egg. Hes very into TTC.
MTE
Ive only been charting with temps for 2 cycles now, but we've been not preventing for only 5 months. Not long at all, but only having EWCM 1 time out of those months..
Mucinex also sounds like a good idea, but it wouldnt have effect in time for this cycle. I got a positive OPK yesterday and today.

Since you seem set on trying this, PLEASE buy pasteurized eggs. The risk of salmonella poisoning would scare me away from it.
"Whole Eggs Pasteurized in the Shell - Traditionally, eggs sold to customers in the shell have not been pasteurized. However, new time/temperature pasteurization methods are making this possible. Egg whites coagulate at 140?F (60?C). Therefore, heating an egg above 140?F would cook the egg, so processors pasteurize the egg in the shell at a low temperature, 130?F (54?C), for a long time, 45 minutes. This new process is being used by some manufacturers, but it is not yet widely available. Pasteurizing eggs reduces the risk of contamination from pathogenic bacteria, such as Salmonella, which can cause severe illness and even death. Pasteurized eggs in the shell may be used in recipes calling for raw eggs, such as Caesar salad, hollandaise or b? arnaise sauces, mayonnaise, egg nog, ice cream, and egg-fortified beverages that are not thoroughly cooked."
