South Florida Babies

No water for me =(

Anyone who knows me or has spent time with me knows that I ONLY drink water. I HATE soda and am not a fan of sugary juices. Well, Fred (my bean) has decided that mommy should NOT have any water! It literally makes me sick! It has been killing me cause my body asks for it since I'm so used to drinking so much of it.

So, I resorted to trickery! Practicing for when Fred's born. I bought those little lemonade packets you stick in water bottles and that is how I am consuming what I need! It must be the lack of taste in the water that exacerbates the metal taste in my mouth that makes me sick. So far my trick seems to be working!

Anyone else has similar issue?

Re: No water for me =(

  • I was just complaining to my DH about this. I am so thirsty, even my lips are cracking and when I drink water it tastes nasty. I have been adding lemon to water.

    pls share any other secrets!

    Love the name... 'Fred' :)

  • Thanks girls! We kinda find it endearing. And while we wouldn't name our son Fred, its gonna be hard to switch names. I can't even imagine how I'll continue say Fred if it turns out to be a girl! LOL!. In the meantime, everyone loves it, even our parents call the LO Fred!

I drank a huge Fiji water an hour ago by lacing it with the lemonade. Even though its low on sugar it was way too sweet. maybe have to do like half and half or something. Believe me if I find a solution I will make it known!

  • what about just squeezing lemon?  will that owkr?
  • I had the same problem, I am only a water drinker and I couldn't bring myself to even a sip...  This was just the 1st trimester only (maybe some of the 2nd), what I did and I don't know if it will help or if you like it, but I turned to mineral water, I did spend some $ living off Perrier but it was the only way I could drink water then!

  • Don't know if lemon will work. I can try but I myself have never been a fan of that. But its worth a try.
  • Glad to hear it will likely go away. I figured as much since so many experience things in their first tri that ends when the first tri ends. I'll try the mineral water. Anything to get what I need!

    Thanks!

  • This is a problem for most in the 1st trimester. It doesn't bother me anymore but I would just put a little lime juice in my water bottle every morning and it worked. Definitely goes away.
  • I remember that!  The same thing happened to me, and I am a BIG water drinker.  I ended up drinking a lot of aguapanela con limon, which DH made for me.  Basically, it's fresh lemonade made with panela instead of sugar.  Panela is dried sugar cane juice, unrefined and unprocessed.  It comes in blocks in the grocery store.  I would just refill a bottle and take it with me to work every day.  It was only a problem for me in the morning, though.  By lunchtime, I could drink water again, as long as it was ice water.  Your lemonade packet idea is a good one, too!!

Hope it goes away for you and Fred gives you a break :)

  • I am also addicted to water, but it didn't taste any different to me.  My friend swears by the Crystal Light packets that you add to water.  If not, you could try something like Vitamin Water which has flavors.
  • Since before pg, I haven't been able to drink water before 11am, always gave me an upset stomach. However, after pg, for the 1st tri, it would actually make me gag!  I quickly stopped drinking it all together, and would stick w/ lemonade, which helped tons w the nausea.  Once I hit the 2nd tri, I was chugging water again!  This too will pass soon.  GL

  • LOL @ calling the Bean Fred!!!!

I did not care for water with Sophia. I drank a lot of gatorade in the first trimester. The sodium killed me, tho. LOL. I swelled like crazy. I have another friend who drank so much apple juice instead of water that to this day she cannot look or smell apple juice - and her son is 9.
