Success after IF

I normally don't C&P but....

I read this on someone's pregnancy blog:

"My OB said I'm under weight so I'm not a fatty!!!  It was a relief to hear that i am not some big fatty who is gaining like a cow or something"

um.... I can't help but be saddened and sickened by this....  for so many reasons.

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • Aw... that is sad - obviously she's got some serious issues about her weight.  I hope for her baby's sake she is taking care of herself and eating right.  It's sad to hear about women who struggle with issues like that... especially during pregnancy.

    Hugs to her...

  • I hate hate hate when I hear women say that.  Even now that I am pregnant.  Be grateful for the blessing you are carrying..even if it means gaining a few pounds.

  • That is sad.  There is nothing scarier than having to deliver early b/c your baby is underweight!!!!  It wasn't my fault Harm was IUGR but gee I still blamed myself.  It is never good to overdo anything but gaining weight is an important and healthy part of having a child!!!!

I should mention it was hard to gain weight.  After having been a string bean for years it was so hard to look at myself sometimes and I would have to tell myself, "this is not only normal but beautiful" and it was!  Gaining weight during pregnancy is a GREAT thing!!!!!!!

  • Yah, underweight during pregnancy is not something to strive for!  How sad.

I have a co-irker who told me she only gained 16 lbs during her pregnancy as she stared at my big ole belly.  I told her I would rather gain too much and have a healthy baby than not enough and put her at risk.

  • that is sad. i had a friend her entire pg freaked about her weight but she still ate to be healthy and a coworker who decided to diet b/c she was going to get fat. her diet lasted a few days b/c she couldn't stay away from teh free ice cream sandwiches but still dieting and pg? i still feel guilty b/c i only gained 3lbs and then lost them before delivery. I ate healthy and am a bigger girl anyway so i had some to spare. plus 7 mos of puking. the dr. wasn't worried but i still feel guilty and hannah is fine. hopefully she gets her act together and realizes weight gain is part of pregnancy.
  • Omg, she would throw up if she saw me!...ha...ha Big Smile
