Supplementing...what formula

I can't quite keep up with DD's needs, so I have been supplementing with Enfamil Premium (pedi suggested).  She hates it and refuses to drink it unless I mix it in with BM.  I'm getting tired of tossing the BM/formula mix that she doesn't drink....I work too hard for those precious drops!

Anyways, what formula are you using?  Does your baby seem to notice the difference in taste?

My LO is on Similac Sensitive and he doesn't mind the difference but I was at his pedi this morning and was told that Good Start formula is truly the most like breast milk because it is all whey proteins as is BM. I would say go with that to keep her tummy happy. She won't be going from digesting your BM whey proteins to milk protein in the formula. We are going to be making this switch ourselves.

  • we are using Similac Advance, and im also breastfeeding as much as possible. she doesnt seem to notice any difference. its suppose to be "the closest to breast milk"  it also is the formula that the hospital supplied (sh was strictly breastfed then, but i took the ones that where offered anyways)
  • Look down just a few posts titled "changing formula".  It talks about Gerber GoodStart (specifically Gentle Plus - orange can).  We loved it for supplementing.

  • When i had to start supplementing i started with earths best organic and it was horrible.  He was miserable and in pain so i tried good start gentle plus and we love it.  Hes just FF now and my supply went away and we have no issues at all.

  • I only breastfeed but I had some samples from our pedi that DHs mom used when she watched DS last weekend.

We were running late from the movies so she got out the formula and DS made faces and refused to eat it. He kept spitting it out...it was Similac Advanced.

I would just send in for free samples of all of them and try it.

  • For the past 10 days or so, DD has been getting a bottle or two of Gerber Good Start Gentle every day.  It took a couple of minutes to get her to take the first bottle but after that, we haven't had any problems.  She will drink it cold, room temp or warm as well.  Our pedi said we could use whatever brand we wanted as long as it was milk based.
