I hate it. Hate, hate, hate it. She has just cut her 7th tooth, though, so I don't have much of a choice. I usually get in there and do about 2 swipes of the top teeth and 2 swipes of the bottom teeth before she either grabs the toothbrush out of my hands, or clamps her jaws down on it so I can't move it anymore.
Can someone give me some advice on how to do this? And please tell me it gets easier! If I could even get her to chew on it I'd feel a little better, but she pulls it out of her mouth and turns it around and chews on the other end! Gah!
Re: Teeth Brushing
We've had some success with a power toothbrush; got this one at Target and is working out so far.
This fruity toothpaste seems to help too since he loves berries.
This is not to say that he's letting us do the most thorough of jobs, but we're managing. GL!
Toddler toothpaste and lots of praise has helped us. I've been trying to brush for a long time with no success (DS got his first tooth at 5 months and has not slowed down since. He has 11 now.) Last night was the first time he actually opened his mouth willingly. Before, I had to hold him down and wait for him to open his mouth to cry/scream before I could get the toothbrush in his mouth. We have 4 or 5 toddler toothbrushes so I give him a couple to hold himself and then I keep one too. Between my brushing and his brushing I think we're getting the job done.
It will get easier. Good luck!
Ava is a little trickier. She opens her mouth but once I get the brush in, she claps shut and reaches for the toothbrush. I just let her chew on it and most of the time, she also turns it around and chews on the other end. I am not too concerned as I just keep trying to get in there. And well, she only has 3 teeth so far.
