bloat vs. baby bump

When does the bloat start to go away and become more of a bump? In the past week or so I feel smaller than I was. I have been having a hard time eating and dont think I have gained. Dr. thursday so we will see but ....any way what is your experience? TIA

Re: bloat vs. baby bump

  • With my DS I don't think I got an actual bump until about 16 weeks, but I'm only 4'11" and have no waist.

  • I haven't necessarily been feeling smaller than I was, but I haven't been as hungry the past week as I have been. I think it's just everything settling since we are close to the 2nd tri
  • Depends on the person's body shape and size. I see you have twins so i would guess you could show sooner.

  • I am average weight but in the bigger side. I always had big boobs and a belly. I am 11 weeks and I can't button my pants. I haven't gained weight anywhere else but my belly. So I dont know if is a bump or bloat, but my Dr said every woman is different and I can be showing at 11 weeks and is very normal.
  • Everyone keeps telling me I'm not going to show til I'm 7 months, I'm kinda hoping they're wrong. But I'm definitely bloated. I can't zip my work pants up all the way (I wear a uniform) and I have to use a rubber band!! I'm only 10 weeks.

  • I have a lot of bloat at 4 weeks but can still hide it under a t-shirt.  (DH noticed it A.S.A.P. but then again he should lol)  But not for much longer!  I'm 5'3 and was about 140 pounds when I got PG.  So I had a little pudge to begin with.

  • I have had a sizable bump since about week 10 (sticks out about as far as my H-sized breasts), with bloating starting pretty much from BFP. I attribute my sizable early bump to bloat/shifting and being short with long legs and thus a short torso. Weeks 11 or 12, my belly stopped getting bigger. I think I maxed out on bloating and shifting for now. The baby is still really low, inches below my belly button, so I I am thinking I will now stay the same size until the bump becomes actual baby. Only time with tell...
  • With my frist I didn't noticably show until I was abt 18-20 weeks or so in. With #2 at 10 weeks I'm a little bloated but no problem with my jeans yet. I put a bathing suit on today and I just feel like I look chubby lol.  I expected to show a little earlier with #2 but so far nada. I've lost about 7 pounds since BFP at 5 weeks with terrible morning sickness. So no weight gain yet a just a lil bloat for me so far.

  • Your uterus is still hidden down behind your pubic bone until at least 12 weeks, so you're not really "showing" until sometime after that.
  • My bloat went down big time around 11 weeks but now, at 16 (based on new due date) I'm still not quite sporting a bump. Now I'm squishy with a slight lower belly curve. I think it's coming, though.
