Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Does your LO still wake at night for a feeding?

At any time of night? We are trying to drop the dream feed which we did at 10pm and sometimes they sleep till morning and sometimes one or both will either still wake, any anytime from 10-2. I think they might be going through the 9 month growth spurt (they are 8.5 months adjusted) because for awhile they STTN. When do we stop offering a bottle when they wake? DS we usually try to soothe back to sleep but he might wake ticked off later or he might go back down for the night. DD we tend to always feed because she is so tiny and she doesn't eat well during the day.... I would appreciate any insight you have to offer, thanks! :)

  • Our DD will sometimes wake during the night for a bottle. She doesn't do it often but I'd say at least once a week. I'm wondering when I stop offering the bottle too. I do try and soothe her back to sleep without it but after about 20-30 minutes I give in and make her one.

  • Remy had stopped waking for a night (4am) feeding about 2 months ago and I was in heaven. The last two nights I have not been able to get him back down without a feeding. I am guessing it is because he was so sick the last few days. I hope it passes.
  • lmfao at your siggy pic.

  • Yes she does.  I asked her pedi yesterday as we were there for her 9 mo. check and she said that it was normal and to address weaning her at night closer to 12 mos. My DD is not a big eater throughout the day - I can barely get her to eat a 6oz bottle. My DD has never slept thru the night and has been a super crappy sleeper.  She was also a month early..

  • Yes. A few times. She has yet to STTN.

  • Yep.  He STTN sometimes but usually wakes up 1-2 times to eat.  Considering that if I were to wake up so hungry that I was having trouble sleeping I would go eat, I have no plans to not feed the kid if he wakes up hungry.

  • Colin still usually wakes once every night... but he downs a whole 8oz. bottle. If he were waking and just drinking a few sips, I'd try to do CIO or something, but I feel as long as he's waking and is so obviously hungry, we will continue to give him his bottle. I'm hoping that the more table foods (in substantial amounts) that make it into his tummy (instead of on the floor or in his lap), the more he'll not need that middle of the night feeding. I'm going to ask the pedi about this, too, at his 9 month checkup on Friday.
