Clomid and late ovulation

I guess this is more of a hypothetical question since I'm not continuing with my OB, but now I'm curious. I started with her and took 50mg CD 3-7 and ovulated CD 18 or 19. They called today following up with me and whether it was a BFN or BFP and before I had mustered up the courage to "break up with them" she told me since I ovulated they wanted to keep the 50mg, but since I ovulated late to take it CD 5-9. I thought I had heard that if you ovulate late they either bump it up (although my p4 was 22 so she said it was strong enough) or take it earlier. I've not heard of taking it later because of late ovulation. Just looking forward to the RE and hopefully moving things along. Really hard to turn down Clomid though knowing that it made me ovulate. But I'm being strong. Sad
