bed time for a 10yo????

I'm new to this board, I usually post on 3-6 I have a 5 mo and a almost 10yo. Just wondering since its summer and there is no school, what time do u make your older kids go to bed @ night???

My 9.5 y/o is in bed at 8 but may read until 8:30. She is the kind of kid that can't/won't sleep in even during the summer. We keep the school schedule unless there's something special going on (like vacation or a program she really wants to watch).

Well, my 4 yo goes to bed between 9:30-10pm. Ideally I'd love to have her in bed closer to 9pm.

When does he have to get up in the morning? I have no idea what the sleep recommendation is for school agers, but I'd probably figure out what time you'd like him up in the morning and go backwards from there to determine bedtime.

I'm happy if she's in bed by 11.

She plays travel softball and between practices and games we are rarely home before 8 and then dinner and unwinding before bed. My 5 year old is usually in bed around 9:30

In the summer 10pm. But they get plenty of rest since they can sleep longer in the mornings since I am a sahm.

When DS1 was 10, he was in bed by 8pm in the summer. The "experts" say that it's best to stick close to your regular school sleep schedule for kids in the summer. It's better for their bodies to not have to adjust & readjust, apparently, so we try not to change it up too much with any of our kids. DS1 is 14 now & has a 10pm bedtime in the summer- it was 9pm during the school year.
