If your LO sleeps for a long stretch at night

do they cluster feed in the evenings? What time does the cluster feeding start and stop? How long of a stretch do the sleep?

DD wanted to eat every hour yesterday evening from 6-10pm. She then slept 6 hours which is not normal at all. Normally she's up every 3 hours during the night. This evening she did the same wanted to eat every 45-60 mins since 7ish. I am hoping she sleeps that long tonight as well. It was heaven!

  • Yes. Now that he is getting a little older, he is calming down on the cluster feeding though.

His cluster feeding would start at 5:00pm and go until bedtime (which is 8:00pm). His first stretch of sleep is anywhere from 6-9 hours.

  • yes, DS definitely cluster feeds at night but then sleeps 5-7 hours

  • DS sleeps about 6-7 hours the first stretch of the night...

I breastfeed him every 2-4 hours....In the evenings I normally feed him around 7 pm...then at 10pm....change his diapers, change his outfit, and within 30 minutes I feed him again in our low lit room to make sure his belly is full and then he sleeps well....and lately so do I.

He only sleeps long each evening if I put him down awake with a full belly.  If he gets himself to sleep (rather than me putting him down asleep) he sleeps longer.

  • Same thing here and it's been a blessing from the start.  She clusters from 5-until she goes down for the night (generally between eight and nine) and sleeps until 3 or 4 in the morning, gets up for a quick snack and change and then down until the alarm goes off at 730.  It was a long arduous process while breastfeeding, but now I pump into bottles for the evening and I realize she's eating between 8 and 10 oz. during those few short hours.
  • DD is definitley a cluster feeder. Usually from about 5-9, then she gets a bottle of expressed milk. she'll generally sleep from 10- 3 or 4.
