Screwed - Avery's Birthday Party

Where the heck am I going to have it?  I am so behind this year.  The party is in one month and I have no idea where it will be.  I am hoping for August 7, but at this rate, everything will be booked.

I don't want to have it at home because August + Texas = miserably hot (as those who were at the first one can attest).

  • I'm pretty sure most places will still be open...the good time slots might be taken, but it won't be totally booked.  Emmy had her 3rd bday at ChuckECheese and she still can't stop talking about it.  Not sure where you live, but you can also do gymnastics too.

  • Have you checked Wonderwild? I know people who have booked only a month in advance.

Also, in that same corp park there is a place called Discovery Gymnastics. I have been to 3 or 4 parties there and one friend I know was able to book hers like 2 weeks before the party. You can bring all your own food (and beer, I think) and the kids always like it.

  • This is an outdoors idea but my niece just had her 3rd birthday party at Noah's Ark and the kids seemed to have a blast.  Actually, most of the parents parked it in the water too and were fine :)

  • maybe you could check with Biron Gymnastics on our side of town (Dairy Ashford at Ashford Parkway)? I know they do birthday parties...

And super booked except for the 6:30 - 8:30 time slot.  I have been stalking their site hoping for an opening at a better time several times a day for the last few months.

Right now I am debating Stomping Grounds and a gymnastics place.

  • Could having it on the 8th be an option? Maybe there will more time slots available?

Little Gym?  We have a party to go there on a Sunday at 5pm, which was the spot she could get, but works out great because most people can come.

    Good luck!

  • 6:30-8:30 would be ideal, in my opinion....as it isn't nearly that hot that late in the day. And my child is a night-owl, so it isn't like that late a time-frame would be imposing on her bedtime, though I can understand it would for many.

Dern it.  I read this as there were options available on the 8th.  That date is booked.

I polled a few months ago about a 6:30 - 8:30 party and almost everyone said it interferred with bed time.  Boo.

I am going to check out the Little Gym.

We've been to LG parties and it was a lot of fun. Honestly, I like LG parties better than Gymboree for birthday parties.

  • Just wanted to add that for a small fee you can use our backyard.  Stick out tongue

I feel your pain on waiting.  R took forever to figure out where he wanted J's party.

We did a swim party for Sarah's 4th b-day from 5 to 8 pm.  We didn't start swimming 'til 6.  It worked really well.

  • All my nieces have early August birthdays (1 on Aug. 7 and 3 on Aug. 9).  They've had a lot of pool parties (neighborhood pool, YMCA and grandma's backyard) and one had her 5th birthday party last year at Pump it Up.   I'm not sure what the local niece is doing this year but the other three (who live in Austin) are having their collective party (they're turning 6 and 8) on a party boat on Lake Travis.  I guess that's not much help.  Smile

  • E's 3rd birthday was at Jump https://www.jumppartyhouston.com/, it's a bit off the beltway at little york. I'd have a party there again.

I'm curious to get a review from you after this. I went to one there last year and it was a nightmare. My friend who threw the party (her son was turning 2 then) said she'll never rec it to anyone. It seems like it would be great but there were a lot of logistical issues in actually getting to the party. Curious to see if the museum has worked any of that out...

  • We had Rena's 2nd bday party at Little Gym and will probably have her 3rd bday there too since we're members. Our LG has a bday party schedule online where it shows slots available for parties. A lot of the Sunday dates are usually open a month in advance.

  • Hope you found a place! I'm going to be the crazy one and have Jake's party in the backyard this year. I'm thinking a moonwalk and a sprinkler area plus lots of shade and fans to help keep everyone cool. And I want to do it early in the day before it gets too hot...
