High-Risk Pregnancy

GD question...sorry I am sure these get asked a lot!

I just heard back from my midwife and I failed my 1 hour but by only a point or two. I had the same exact thing with my 1st pregnancy. I had to take the 3 hour with my 1st and passed, the baby was always measuring right on track. This time around the baby has been measuring 5 weeks ahead for my last 3 appointments so I am having a u/s and a 3 hour test next week.

My question is for those of you who failed the 1 hour and then went ahead and failed the 3 hour was your 1 hour numbers off by a lot, or just a few points? Since my # we just off my a point or two, does that give me a better chance of passing the 3 hour??

Were your little ones measuring ahead as well?

Sorry for all the questions, I plan on talking more with my doc on Monday, I was just curious.

Thanks!

  • With my first pregnancy I only failed by a few points as well, and ended up passing the three-hour.  This time, I failed the one-hour with a 157 (so 17 points off), had to take the three-hour, and failed that for 3 of the 4 blood draws and was diagnosed with GD.  So you just never know!  Definitely do the three-hour.

  • I only failed the 1 hr by 3 points (142 with a cutoff of 139).  I don't know about measuring ahead...the doctor never said anything, but he did have me having u/s every 4 weeks because of other risks (at least I think that's why...he never came out and said, he just said I want you to have u/s every 4 weeks from 20 weeks on).

  • With my first pregnancy, got a 115 on the 1 hour and didn't even have to take the 3 hour.  This time got a 165 on the 1 hour and failed 2/4 on the three hour. . . .good luck :)
  • I got a 170 on the one hour and do have GD and the babies have never been measuring ahead. They have been in the 45% the whole time.

  • My 1 hour # was just a couple points over.  And my 3 hr fasting was just a couple points over.  So now I have GD, test 4 times a day and have to follow a meal plan.

I am measuring on track or just a little behind (I am petite though).

  • My one hour was like 165. I obviously failed the 3 hr too since I'm here. I was diagnosed later than most (closer to 31w) and baby was 47th percentile at that time. So very average.

  • I passed the 1 hour with my first, but he was big so they started testing me early with this pregnancy. I passed the first 1 hour, then failed the second time they had me take the 1 hour by 1 point (136, I needed 135). I failed 2/4 on the 3 hour by just a couple points each as well, but I'm on meds now because my fasting numbers just kept going up and up as the weeks went on. I had a growth ultrasound yesterday and she's measuring just fine though, and has been about average all along.
