Sleeping during the daytime

Does anyone else find that LO doesn't sleep very well during the daytime?  My LO seems to need A LOT of help getting to sleep during the day.  He's upstairs right now in his cradle with the hairdryer going next to him.

Re: Sleeping during the daytime

  • My DS fights sleep during the day sometimes.  I think it is because they are too interested in what is going on around them.  When I know he is really sleepy, I swaddle him, put a pacifier in and put him in his crib.  He is usually asleep within 10 minutes.

  • DS doesn't like to take daytime naps.  I can usually get him to nap in his swing in the morning, but by afternoon, he's awake and needing to be entertained.  Yesterday he was awake and fussing/crying from 12 until 6:30 when DH was finally able to get him to fall asleep on his chest.  Right now I'm trying to get DS to sleep in his swing so I can tidy up and shower.  I have a newborn photo shoot this afternoon and this boy better decide to nap before then.

He keeps spitting the d*** pacifier out.  I'm thinking about making one of those pacifier holders with a beanie baby.

  • This started yesterday for us. I swaddled her and it seemed to do the job.
  • My LO puts himself to sleep at night. I just lay him in the PNP and he goes to sleep.

During the day, it's a different story. We have to rock, swing, walk, bouce & he still may not nap!!!

It's like this for us too. I can tell when she's tired but she fights it. BWing usually does the trick, but I have to basically walk circles around my house. She will nap in her bouncer her but I have to bounce her the whole time. Oh well, at least she's a good night sleeper.

  • Mine is the exact opposite!  She sleeps like a dream during the day, but we really struggle to get her to fall asleep at night.  Once she's out, she sleeps for 4-5 hours at a stretch, but it's h*** getting her down (at night).  During the day she sleeps 2-3 hours about an hour after her bottle.  If I cuddle her after playing, she conks out & I move her to her lamb seat.  I kind of wish I had your problem only because nights have been rough this week.  Good luck!
