Breastfeeding

What could this be??

I have been nursing LO since birth, then some bottles when I went back to teaching, and now I'm home for the summer.

I have really haven't had any issues...a little tenderness in the beginning, but it wasn't bad.

The last two days, when I nurse my LO on my right side...she'll be on for like for a few seconds and a shooting pain goes from ...like my breast bone in the middle down into the middle of my breast.

It's like a bad gas pain....something like that.

What could this be?  It makes me jump a little because it hurts so bad.

She did just thrush and we're both on medicine.  It was a very mild case of it... and I really didn't notice anything different with my nipples.  It feels a little zingy when she nurses...but now I have cream for them.

Thanks for your help.

Re: What could this be??

  • Could still be the thrush, may have moved into your milk ducts which is harder to treat than a topical solution. I had it in my ducts and was given a prescription for Diflucan to clear it up.

  • It sounds like the thrush is in the ducts now like PP said.  What are you using on your nips right now?
