cetaphil or eucerin as a lotion for LO?

DS has super sensitive skin and we recently moved to CO so his skin is getting really dry. Our new pedi recommended Cetaphil or Eucerin cream as a lotion for him. I am a little skeptical about both and wanted to see if any nesties use either of these, esp if your LO is really sensitive?

We use Aquafor - pedi recommended it for ds's eczema.

Love both. We usually use Aveeno for DD but we use Eucerin on her ezcema spots. CO is SO dry.

My BIL had bad ezcema when he was a baby. They had to slather him in lotion as soon as he got out of the tub & wrap him up in stuff & then put pj's on. They lived in CO at the time.

Pedi recommended Eucerin or Aquaphor for DD. Both have really helped her sensitive skin.

We've been using Eucerin for a few months now with no problems. When DS was a newborn he broke out really bad from the baby shampoos I was using (Johnson's and Aveeno) and I had to bathe him with just water and baking soda. He does okay with the baby shampoos now but the Johnson's baby lotion seemed to be causing a new reaction so I switched to Eucerin. It took a couple weeks for all the red and dry patches to go away but now his skin looks good. I personally don't care for Cetaphil (for me, never tried it for DS).

I have both Eucerin and Aquaphor, they work equally well, IMO. I think the Aquaphor is easier to smear around though. Eucerin is very thick

ETA: Just wanted to clarify that I'm referring to the Eucerin Cream, not the lotion.

Definately use Cetaphil. We bought a big tub of Aquaphor and our DR said there was something in there that's not sensitve to DS's skin (in Eucerin as well)...gosh I can't remember what but I went home and looked at the label and sure enough it was in there. Now we use Cetaphil wash and creme and it's done wonders for DS. I'm trying to look it up online and of course they don't show the ingredient list.

I like Cetaphil better than Eucerin. They have an 'Extra Moisturizing' cream that I prefer to their daily moisturizer. Another brand that is recommended and that I have started using on my LO is Vanicream. I like this better than the cetaphil during the winter months.

We've used Cetaphil on DS since he was itty bitty. He's never had a problem with it. Everyone in my family with sensitive skin uses Cetaphil. If your LO is sensitive, just try it on a small area of the body at first, to see if they have any reactions.

I'm a pediatric dermatology PA and our group (as well as many other pediatric and adult derm groups) recommend CeraVe cream and soap to bathe. Cetaphil is 2nd best...but always CREAMS never LOTIONS, as lotions are thinner and usually contain alcohol. CeraVe is the best b/c it has ceramides in it, which no other OTC cream does (the others are all Rx).
