2nd Trimester

What's in a name...or in this case a screen name...

Some of the screen names are pretty obvious...I was just curious, is there a method to your madness? Is there meaning behind it? I know when I first signed up I didnt realize mine would be my new alias, I thought I was just going to be getting emails and what not...Looking back THIS would not have been the name I picked had I of known better... Would you change yours if you could?

My initials and birthday - March 4.  Very creative, right?
  • Loading the player...
  • That's funny... I never thought of it as becoming an alias either, but I guess it does!

I am ok w/ mine... I think haha

  • Looking back I probably should have chosen a different name but mamakajsa is who I am (a mom and my name is Kajsa) Big Smile

  • Mine is the punch line to a joke I knew in high school.  Sadly, I've long since forgotten the joke, so it's really not amusing anymore.

I've used this as a screenname for various things (remember the golden days of ICQ?) for probably 15 years now (good LORD I'm getting old).

  • my 1st 2 initials, former last name and favorite number doubled.  Don't care for it, but don't really feel like changing it.
  • i used my birthday in mine too...
  • Mine's terrible, I had no clue about the message boards when I signed up for the knot--- it was just easy to remember as a sign on! What a pain... yes I'd love to change it, to at least my married name!

I use mine quite a bit because it's never taken.  It's actually a self-inflicted childhood nickname haha.  One day the postman asked me my name and for some reason I told him Hecky Sue Instead of Heather.  I think I was being silly and mixing together my name and my Aunt Suzie's, who babysat me a lot at the time.  It stuck, and my mom and siblings still call me that, or just Hecky, to this day!
That's funny yours is one of the ones I always wondered about...I'm a Heather too BTW

March 4th is my bday also!!

How weird! Same City & Same Birthday!!

  • My nephews call me Meme so it became a nickname.. and people added lou to it..
  • I didn't realize it would be an alias, either. I wish I could change it, but oh, well!

  • HA - I am just a moron and used the same screen name I have for everything else - my name.  I honestly wasn't paying attention...google me and you can see all the stuff I didn't get for my wedding/reception and if anyone wants they can go ahead and get stuff for our baby off our registery too...good times.... (joke)

And yeah, I suppose I would change it.

  • K is my first initial, J is DH's first initial, and our LO is a mashup of the two of us.

  • OctoberBride09- Gee, I wonder..... I got married october 4th 2009.
  • I had in front of me Teva Durham's "paisley carpetbag" knitting pattern.  The digits are part of an old phone number.

Brezza - sort of rhymes with Pretzel - is Italian for breezy. My name is Bre and my maiden name starts with a Z so I've always been known as Breezy. But for some reason it's a popular name for people to pick as screen names and thus never available to me - jerks! I studied abroad in Italy and love Italian culture so it's Brezza for me!
Yours was another I always wondered about! :) This post is working out great LOL
  • Because I like movies.

No, I wouldn't change it.  I use this one everywhere.  If you see this screenname on another message board, 99.99% of the time it's me.

  • LiLnikkiMe: its actually an old e-mail screen name of mine

i'm short 5'1, so that where the LiL comes from and my name is Nicole. i have no idea where the Me came from though, lol, it just kind of went with the name.

  • I would change mine if I could. I just wanted something easy to remember. My name and year of graduation. So lame, I know.
  • If i had known about the boards i would have changed it when i signed up for the knot. Mine has just been a login / username i have used for years and years, i think back in high school i created it. And its one of those names i never forget when logging in.  Morgan is the name of a drummer from a band and follow is the name of one of their songs...Yeah, stupid high school username.

I remember ICQ!!!  :)  I used to love the sound it made when you got a message - "uh oh".

I remember ICQ! I loved it! lol

My screen name is my nickname and my husbands call number. He's a Lt. with the sheriff's office here.

  • Mine's a nickname from high school, sillypit stands for Silly Pitcher, I was a softball pitcher in high school and college.  My catcher was sillycat.

  • Mine is a nickname I've had since second grade, given to me by my father.  We were watching a discovery channel show about a family of ducks in Japan.   They had to move several times and the runt was referred to a Chibi.  I've always been short and my dad decided to dub me Cheebe...we spelled it differently.  I don't think either of my parents has called me Sarah in more than 10 years.  It's my other name so I'm happy with it, besides I use it for everything.

Ha-ha my nephew calls me An-TaTa...he couldnt say Heather but it was funny because he started talking about the same time that I had my uhm..TaTa surgery...so it's a huge joke...he's almost four and now I'm "Aunt Hedder"  which is better...

I'm a Heather too, I think the popularity of that name in the late 70's and early 80's shows up more on here than anywhere else in my life.

  • Mine is my email screenname.  I didn't pick it, my Dad did many years ago but I still use it.  Its my initials and I'm a girl.  My dad was very clever.

  • I used to be a Knot member and I had my first and last name on here. (Duh!) When I got my BFP, I deleted that account and started this one. Not very creative...DH and I were both October babies, we married in October 2005, we're expecting a baby in October (his bday is my EDD!) and our last name starts with H.

  • First initial, first part of last name and there are 88 keys on a piano so I use that # when I need one.

DH was called Reddog when he was in the Navy and my coworkers called me KRedd when I worked at Coast Guard so I guess nicknames are just a part of the military (even though I was a civilian) and I kept mine.  Before we knew LO was a girl I was calling her Little Redd Smile

Ha ha yeah I know it's a little odd...and people have a tendency to think my name is Sue!  No offense to the Sues of the world but it's not my favorite name so in that light I might change it but I'm pretty used to it at this point.
    Honestly I assumed Becky LOL

That - I knew nothing about message boards when I signed up for the Knot so I used my first name and my DH's first name since it was our wedding I was on the Knot for....pretty lame and if I could change it, I totally would. Can you even do that??

Great post!! Answers a lot of questions I've had! Smile

  • These are really interesting!

My usual screen name was taken, so I concocted my current one on the fly. I studied mixed martial arts for a long time=kik, and I'm a doc=doc.

  • My FI is a Marine and I'm going to be his wife...and 81 is just my birthyear. Not creative, but oh well, it works.

Ha ha ha! Glad I could clear that up. :)

As for the other question you asked, no, I don't think I'd change it because, sadly, coming up with that screen name took every bit of creativity I have (which isn't a lot to begin with).

Mine is so boring! My name is... Tori. My sn is Torii. Obviously, Tori with one 'i' was taken so I added another. Sometimes I think it would be nice if my name was a little more obscure so that people irl wouldn't have a chance of finding me, but at the same time, I like how short and simple it is.

All of my other screen names and online accounts are "toriikins." I was given that nickname in high school from a really good friend who was living in Peru at the time. I never had a nickname so I jumped all over it. Google toriikins and I'm sure you'll come up with tons of random websites that I belong to.

  • I chose mine for a reason.  It's an homage, if you will.

And no, I wouldn't change it for the world.  I especially like that my husband thought the name was so cool, he simply put a "Mr" in front of it on another site we frequent for HIS name.  :)
