Prenatal Massage

I had a prenatal massage last night .. pure bliss. I have been having them since the second trimester and recommend all preggo's to have them however as soon as i got home I started contracting and have been contracting since then.. mild, nothing timeable. Has anyone had contractions kick in after a massage? I  will be 37wks on Friday....=)

    I have had several massages and no contractions, but I am only 28 weeks.  There are certain areas of the body to be avoided during the massage because they can trigger uterine contractions, but if your therapist was trained in prenatal massage, she will know where those are.  I'm sure you're fine!  If you are concerned, it wouldn't hurt check with your doctor.

    Thanks ladies.. I am not at all concerned with contracting... I am 37 weeks.. and if i started to contract a bit its ok.. just didnt know if it was a normal occurrence.  I have been to Massage Envy.. they are ok. I like my little private practice place = )

     

    I have gone since 2nd trimester and never had contractions.. so I know they arent doing anything wrong.. maybe baby is just getting ready to pack her bags and arrive!

    That is weird because I had a massage at 31 weeks and I had a few light contractions as well...nothing to be concerned about but still a few.  I am going in for another in a few weeks at about 37 weeks so if the contractions start then I will welcome them since I will be full term. :)

    I wouldn't worry about it- I have had a weekly massage since I was 25 weeks and now i'm at 36 weeks.  I have had light contractions after some of them, but nothing timeable.  if you are concerned bring it up with your doctor.  Mine says it is probably just my body reacting.
