Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, so I thought I would see if I can connect with other TTC bookworms ![]()
What are you reading? What's your all time favorite?
I am currently reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon (I'm on the second book, Dragonfly in Amber) and I LOVE them. There are 7 books in the series and they are a little daunting at 800-1000+ pages long, but they are totally worth it... I highly recommend them!
Re: Calling all bookworms! (NTTCR)
I've read all the Outlander books a few times, love them all.
I just finished Water for Elephants and I think I'm going to read an oldie, but goodie (Catcher in the Rye) until I start re-reading the Harry Potter books again.
I have some other books coming at the library, but they're taking a while.
ETA: I also read a couple David Sedaris books earlier in the summer. Hilarious!

Most of what i read is light and fluffy. I'm currently reading the newest book in the the Queen Betsy series by MaryJanice Davidson. I'm not usually into science fiction but I like the Sookie Stackhouse books so gave these a try and really liked them.

I've been thinking about re-reading Harry Potter too! I read them in high school which was 10 (ish) years ago! Gotta get through the Outlanders first though
I love that I'm not the only one who does this. I just can't help myself--I love them so much!
Ooh, and I loved Catcher in the Rye.
I'm currently reading The Wedding (Nicholas Sparks) and Shadow of Your Smile (Mary Higgins Clark--I read her new ones every year, making DH buy it for me in hardback because I can't wait). I also have a paperback I picked up one day, but I can't remember what it's called.

Right now, I'm reading "Days of Gold" by Jude Deveraux. It's OK.
As for Gabaldon, I LOVED Outlander, couldn't put it down, but I got stuck in the middle of, I think it was Voyager. I keep trying to pick it up again, but always get stuck in the same place.
I love reading in general, but I tend towards romance novels. Suzanne Brockman, Nora Roberts/JD Robb, Lori Foster.
I don't have nearly as much time to read as I used to when I had a long commute on the train. I don't miss my commute, but I miss reading!
I've heard this is good, but haven't read it yet. It is definitely on my list!
Currently: The Time Traveler's Wife
All time favorite: No clue, I have read too many and have several that I re-read. Mostly, I now mostly read mind fluff, too many heavy books getting myself through college!
I'm reading New York by Edward Rutherford. I've loved everything he's written so far.
I'm also a big fan of Tom Robbins.
I haven't made it this far yet, but I'm hoping that doesn't happen! It always does seem to when there are just too many books in a series. All of a sudden you forget what the original plot was bc there are so many spin offs!
You mean I am NOT supposed to be just reading TCOYF over and over again?
Just kidding - I have been awful this summer, it seems the most involved thing I can get through is the latest issue of Real Simple. I will have to take some of the suggestions from this post and pick something for my days by the pool!
Spirit of Power
Eat, Drink, and be Keri
This made me crack up! I am definitely writing down all the suggestions to add to my list.... Reading by the pool is the best pasttime EVER!
I love to read, too.
I'm a huge fan of Lauren Willig, who wrote a series that starts with "The Secret History of the Pink Carnation." It's a historical fiction series mixed with modern fiction. I really love them! I'm also a fan of Philippa Gregory (more historical fiction, all Tudor England).
I also am a sucker for chick lit - I just finished "The Wedding Girl" by Sophie Kinsella's other pen name (can't remember it right now). It was fun and light.
I typically read smutty science fiction/supernatural books by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Laurell K. Hamilton, and Karen Marie Moning (I was a big Stephen King and Anne Rice fan back in the day). They rot my brain, but are so good.
I'm a HUGE fan of J.D. Robb (other pen name of Nora Roberts- it's a romance/mystery series she writes). I also like Preston & Child and Phillipa Gregory (she wrote The Other Boleyn Girl- great read if you like historical romance).
Lately I've been reading a couple books by James Rollins. My dad gave them to me to try- they are mysteries. They are just ok.
My Ovulation Chart
Outlander series sounds interesting! I'll have to give it a whirl!. I rotate between mystery and vampire-ish/mystical books. I love the In Death series by JD Robb (mystery) and I enjoy the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I also like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward.

I got stuck a couple of times as well. It may have been Voyager where I was able to put the books down a few times.

I think you might be my soulmate. I have the Black Dagger series on my "to read" list. Have you read any of the Anita Blake series (Laurell K Hamilton)? You might like it if you enjoy the Dark Hunter series. LK Hamilton also has another series about fairies that people who like our genre of stuff tend to enjoy, but I haven't gotten into it.
I am obsessed wtih Jen Lancaster! S he makes me wet my pants! Even got my mom into her. I read all her books & went to her book signing for her latest!!!! I just read Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and was sooo dissapointed by it!!! Everyone RAVED about it ... I just wasn't feeling it =(.
I just started Jane Green's newest book (needed some fluff after Dragon Tattoo)
I would love to see her in person! She is hysterical!!! How is the new Jane Green book?
I alternate between chick lit and mysteries/thrillers. I just finished Jackie Collins's new book, Poor Little *** Girl. It was okay, not as good as her older books, but I still read them. Kind of like John Grisham, his books now kind of suck. I'm currently reading the 8th confession by James Patterson. I really like his books, because I usually can read them so fast!
I have to agree!! I have read all of the anita blake series (I have no life & love to read way too much lol) I did read her other series too about faires and it wasn't too bad - Loads of sex in some of them. I think LK likes orgies or something ...lol.

Love Diana Gabaldon, just finished sookie stackhouse books...
also, I enjoy Jaqueline Carey, Christopher Moore, Marion Zimmer Bradley, I enjoyed Orson Scott Card's Ender series, hitchikers guide to the galaxy, all the lord of the rings books, I think i've read almost everything by anne rice and basically anything in the general area of smutty vampire fiction also works... its soo bad, but it's so good.
Currently. Sadly. I have been reading nothing but educational books on house buying..
Yeah. I've been sort of disappointed in the last six books or so in the AB series- just way to much sex and not enough story line, although Skin Trade was better than the others.
It's always nice to find someone who likes the same kind of books that I do!!!! We seem like a pretty rare bunch.
Oh, and I read way too much, too.
It's my only hobby.
I agree - if you ever want to chat books outside of the bump feel free to PM me your email!

I will have to check out the Outlander series -- sounds like a good series for the summer.
I just finished The American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo -- both I could not put down. Kristin Hannah's books are also good.
Okay, will do! Thanks!
The In Death books are great. I have been meaning to start reading JR Ward, many of my friends really like her books. I always look at the library, but her books are never on the shelf.
I'm going to have to start reading Jen Lancaster after all of the raves in this thread! I love a book that can make me laugh.
What is this book about? I have seen it but I am always nervous to try a new author. I usually find an author i like and read all their books and then have to try to find another one lol
I am a huge fan of all Stephanie Meyer books. Sandra Brown is awesome! I also really like Mary Higgins Clark and Lisa Jackson. It seems like all the books I have read by these authors are good no matter what. Does anybody know of another author who writes good books that are kinda the same? Mysterys with just a little romance to spice it up:)
I am jsut now getting into Lisa Jackson's books and I love them! I have read some Karen Robards which are kind of similar as well as Lisa Gardner.
I have spent the last week catching up on all the J.D. Robb books that I've missed in the last couple of years!

I'm a big chick lit fan, very easy reading. I just finished Jane Green's new one, wasn't that thrilled with it. Heart of the Matter was good also, but not Emily Giffin's best. I just started The One that I Want by Allison Winn Scotch, haven't gotten too far though.
I am dying to read Kendra Wilkinson's memoir that just came out and the new Tori Spelling book. I'm pathetic, I know!
I heard it takes awhile to get in but I'm only 80 pages in and still not hooked so I'm no help.
My most recent favorite book was The Help but its hard to say what my all time favorite is although I have read Pride & Prejudice many many times.
I am the same way! I do read some of Jodi Piccoult's stuff and some mysteries, but for the most part, I read light, beachy reads.
