Anyone's LO still hate the car?

I seriously can't drive 2 blocks without her screaming. I don't know what to do. I would love to go visit DH's parents an hour away, but there's no way she'll make it. It doesn't matter if she's sound asleep, fed, changed, nothing. She will scream the second the car starts. She's fine sitting in her carseat, but the minute I start driving she loses it. Anyone else's LO still like this?  Will she grow out of it?

  • **raises hand** - maybe not to that extreme but he definitely doesn't tolerate the car (or his carseat) for any extended amount of time.

this. She doesn't love her carseat at all. She won't sleep in it. We've tried toys and mirrors and everything.

    It sucks.

I have a friend that has resorted to putting a dvd player in front of her DD so they can go anywhere in the car.

Luckily DD has grown out of her general disgust for the car

  • Sorry to hear that. DD hates her car seat, but usually when we get moving, she is ok. We put a mirror on her seat that she can see herself and has little toys on it to play with (Target) and it has helped a lot.

  • DS goes through waves with car intolerance. From about 3-4 1/2 months it was hell every single ride, no matter how far, and no matter who was near him. Around 4 1/2 mo I stated getting random rides where he wasn't screaming the whole time, and now there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason - sometimes he screams and sometimes he doesn't, but I think we may have finally gotten over the hump to where it's maybe 55% not screaming.

This. He used to love the car. Now if we go further than DC (which is a mile from our house) - someone has to sit out back with him, sometimes that doesn't even prevent the screaming. I have found it is because he is bored most of the time - as long as he is being played with, read to, or has some type of musical toy to look at - he seems much more content.

    This!

  • DS doesn't love the car but we have figure out it's because he can't see any of us because he is facing backwards. If I sit in the back with him he is all smiles and happy. We are going to move him to the middle seat so then he can see DD all the time.

  • Is your LO in a carrier carseat?  DS was like this until we switched to a convertible carseat.  The carrier CS was too cramped and hot for him.
