I just need to vent bc I can't tell the bride this right now.
I ordered the dress for her wedding back in February when I was still 10 lbs overweight and bf-ing. The place made me order a size bigger than the sample, which fit me just fine. I didn't want to fight with them, and I had the baby with me, and the bride, so I just let it go and ordered the bigger size. It came in a few weeks ago and is about 3 sizes too big now that I lost the baby weight and stopped breastfeeding.
The dress cost $250. And another $100 to alter since it had to be completely reconstructed.
I brought the dress to a tailor to get fixed the other day. I have been going to these people for years. They made the dress at least 3 inches too small on top. There is no material left on any of the seams to let it out. There is NO WAY the top will ever close. I would have to lose like 15 lbs, or have no breasts to get it zipped.
The wedding is 2 weeks away. The dress was special ordered and took months to come in. I spent so much money on this already. I am going to go back there tomorrow, but honestly, I am just so upset over this. I don't know what can be done in this amount of time.
Re: I am about to cry
That sucks.
I would make the tailor pay for a new dress. I am sure if you contact the company they can try to help you.
Didn't the tailor measure you? Didn't they allow the 1" (or whatever) margin to let in/take out for that very reason?
I'd be upset too.
This, most companies can rush order dresses. I'd make the tailor pay.
All of this. ?Sorry you are going through this. ?

This, it's their fault! I hope you are able to work something out. On a plus side, it was too small WAY better than it being too big. I am the same size after all these months
I'm a bridesmaid. The dress is special ordered and is the same as all of the other bridesmaid dresses. I can't just go rent a random dress... it has to be THAT dress.
Have you talked to the tailor yet? Did you try it on there or wait until you were at home?
Call the bridal shop and ask to buy the sample dress. It may not be perfect but it will work. U said it fit you so it should only require a little tailoring that the bridal shop can do. If it isn't the right color ask the bridal shop to see if they can find out who has a sample in the correct color.
Also tell the original tailor that they need to pay for the new dress.
since they effed it up so badly, anything else that is done to it should be free to get it fixed
if it's only the top that's too big, is it possible for them to make the back a corset-style instead of a zip-up so that your boobs will fit?
I know it would make your dress different than the other girls', but it's better than not being able to wear it at all, and it wouldn't be very obviously different- I doubt that anyone other than the bridal party would even notice.
Also, check with the company, they might be able to rush-order you some extra fabric to use for the corset if you need it.

My mother picked it up from the tailor yesterday for me. I tried it on last night... I am going back today to talk to them.
I thought about this. It is a possibility. I actually dreamed about this last night when I was tossing and turning
That is a possibility also... I don't remember the color of the sample, but if it comes to that I will call, and hopefully it isn't in terrible shape. The dress fit when I was 10 lbs heavier and breastfeeding...it will still need considerable alterations now.
