Anyone potty train 19 month old girl?

My DD shocked me tonight.  After bath time we were brushing teeth getting ready for bed when she motioned that she wanted to go potty.  At first I was annoyed because, really, is she ready to potty train?!  But I went ahead and got her undressed and put her on the toilet.  Guess what, she peed!!!!

I was so excited I praised her up a storm and her older brother joined in the fun too.

Sooooo...could it really be time to potty train?  She does hate a poopy diaper and she likes to imitate her older brother by trying to go potty sometimes.

Any advice appreciated.  TIA

  • Run with it.  Get her big girl undies and all.  My 28 month old REFUSES to sit on the potty and loves a dirty diaper.  Consider yourself lucky.

  • Thanks ladies!

Scuba - that is kind of how things went with my DS for awhile.  I backed off a bit and he did eventually take to it again.  Hopefully, your dd will do the same.

I have big girl underwear for her.  Geez I hope her daycare lady is ready for this.  Thanks again.

  • Give it a try.  It can't hurt.  I swear DD#1 was ready around then.  She went on the potty a few times right after turning 19 months and seemed to want to keep going.  I was very PG with DD#2 (who was born a little after DD#1 turned 20 months) and just didn't have the energy or time to deal with it.  We ended up biting the bullet and doing the one-week (three day) potty training right at 2 years old.
