Bfing ladies-how long do you burp?

Some video in the hospital I had to watch mentioned burping for 2-3 minutes before giving up.  That just seems like a really long time when you are actually doing it.  If LO does burp do you stop after one time?

 

I know I really need to get a book about raising a baby and write down my million questions for the pedi next week.  But neither is happening at midnight while feeding and its on my mind.  I am learning I dont know squat about babies.

    I usually burp for maybe one, one and a half min max, if he gives me a burp, I stop right away. If not, I quit and don't worry about trying again unless it seems like his tummy is bugging him (eg. nothing else is wrong, checked diaper etc and he is still unhappy.) HTH

    for a maybe 20 seconds, or until I get a burp. If she acts upset I go longer since she gets gassy from my oversupply. But usually I dont need to work hard to get her to burp.

    1-3 minutes. It depends on how hard he is being to give me a burp. If I get one right away, I keep burping for one minute (he usually burps more than once). If he doesn't give me one within 3 minutes, then I just give up.

    I stop after one burp, but if I don't get one I burp close to 5 mins.  I find if she doesn't burp she spits up more so I work for it!

    I am having a very hard time getting burps from LO, and she is one gassy baby.  She is a super fast eater, so I feel like she is gulping down air and should be an easy burper, but that is not the case.  I try to keep at it until I get a burp switching positions and doing the frog motion with her legs, but I usually give up after 5 minutes,  because I feel like I am beating the crap out of her lol.  I know she would feel better if she would just burp, bit I don't know how to get them out of her any easier.
