What do you think about Madyn Kay?
We were not going to think about names until I found out if it was a boy or girl, until one day I met a mom who said if they had a boy it was going to be Madden. Then they had a girl. The name totally stuck with me when I wasn't even trying to think of names. Then we found out we were having a girl and my sis said she liked it for a girl better spelled Madyn.
I definitely have been looking for a more unique name, and thought this fit unique but not totally out there since it is similar to Madaline, Madison, MAddy etc...
Just wanted opinions and curious if anyone has used it as well?
Re: What do you think about Madyn Kay?
If you are going to use it, OWN IT and spell it correctly. If you want a name that "looks girly" then pick a girls name, don't try to butcher the spelling with a random Y. Just my two cents
Madden Kay = NMS at all in a million years, but at least it's better than Madyn

Exactly this.
Like the pps, I think that if you are going to use the name it should be spelled properly; Madden. Madyn looks made up to me. Feminizing the spelling does not feminize the name.
In any case, it is really NMS. I don't like boy names for girls, even if the name has switched over in the last century (like Whitney, Ashley, Madison, etc.).

Ditto every single word of this.
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
I would pronounce Madden and Madyn differently. Madden = Mad-den and Madyn = Made-in.
I also dislike the idea that changing a vowel to a "y" makes it more "girly". It really just makes it look/sound weird. If you like Madden then spell it Madden. Personally I wouldn't use it for a girl OR a boy because it makes me think of the football player and we aren't really football people...

Ditto to all above...
AND Madyn looks like you forgot the "a" and "l" and she will probably be called, "Madalyn" anyways.....
Ditto also.
goodness that name didnt go over well.
but...if u love the name madden, use it as a nickname for
madeline (sp) etc.
Exactly what I was thinking...
Ditto to everything.
And especially that the name will get mispronounced anyway. It should've told you something when the girl said she would name her SON that.

I think Madden is fine for a girl, but I like it spelled Madden. It's also the last name of a famous football announcer and video game named after him, so FYI.
I agree with a pp that Madyn might be pronounced "Made-in"
You know, when I first read this, I thought you were trying to spell Maiden. So, clearly, your alternate spelling isn't even very effective.
I also read Madyn as being pronounced like Maiden.
However, I think it would be a cute nickname for a girl named Madeline or Madelyn or etc.

How do you not understand why people would mispronounce it? I have seen the names Kadyn, Jadyn, and Padyn. Why would Madyn be pronounced any differently?
OP-it's awful. Please don't do it.
I totally agree.
And to the pp who didn't understand why it would be pronounced like "Madyn," since it's made-up, people are likely to try to follow general spelling rules. A vowel before a single consonant is usually pronounced with the long vowel sound. Sure there are exceptions but when a spelling is made up, it makes sense to guess the default first.
This. It looks like Jaden and all the rest of those knockoffs. So my mind goes to "Maiden."
This.
Well, I don't think it's bad! I guess I've seen so much worse that it doesn't bother me. Even though I see how people would have said Maiden from all the -aiden trend, I still read it as Madden. I guess the other alternative would be Maddyn.
