Eco-Friendly Family

putting a toy out of it's misery

DD got an electric keyboard (shaped like a cats head) that is annoying as all get out.  I didn't like it from the beginning and the pre-programmed songs are horrible (not kid friendly in my opinion).

Well..the batteries are dying and it sounds horrible. I'd really just like to take a hammer to it...but I digress.  So I'm thinking of making it disappear... like to Craigslist or something like that!

Am I the only one like this?

  • Sometimes when I sneeze, household items that I hate wind up on freecycle and I have NO IDEA how it happened. Angel

  • Definitely not alone in this... actually, I am terrified of how many plastic, battery operated, annoying toys DS is going to get for his birthday in 2 weeks.

    I'd sell it off asap!

  • I've had a few toys become "broken" in a similar fashion.  DD never questions it, because the toy hasn't been acting right.  The batteries die, it is "broken", DD accepts that reason, and it is out of my house.

  • I don't care who gave it to him, plasticy toys with lights and music do not stick around for long... I'm terrible though- if it's still in a box I'll try to take it back and exchange it for something he needs, or that is at least slightly less terrible.

  • I do the same thing! Might as well get something useful.
  • I have actually taken a hammer to one of DD's toys!  Someone gave her this cute little lamb.  When you squeezed it, it recited, "Now I lay me down to sleep..." in this creepy little voice.  Well, we are NOT a religious family and the voice seriously gave DH and I the chills.  So, I took a hammer to it and now it's just a cute little lamb!

I posted this story on my old blog and I got comments from strangers about how I'm going to hell and Bible quotes and all...so please don't flame me.  I've already heard it!

OMG My MIL got us something just like that! I think it was a bear, though. I personally think that prayer is a bit morbid, and I'm a Christian.

But yes, that voice is CREEPY.
