Can someone school me about wool (the quick version!)

I have a friend having an auction to raise funds for her sister whose son is in the hospital.

The friend only sells wool covers for boys and girls, and dresses.

I have no clue how wool works at all. Is it warm? Breathable? Smelly? Do you wash it like regular stuff? Help! They are so cute and I want to contribute!

  • It is warm, but breathable enough that you can use it int he summer. They don't smell. I hand wash and lanolize.

Basically you can lanolize the wool to make it more water-resistant (not waterproof, but water resistant). You put it on like any other cover. A lot of people recommend them instead of PUL covers for use with o/n CDs.

We just got one with a built-in doubler yesterday, and I can't wait to try it. I put my first wool cover on DD last week and it worked great.

  • a lot of the time in the summer DS is in a prefold with wool soaker and a t-shirt if we are at home. wool is breathable so he doesn't get too hot.

i handwash and lanolize. it isn't hard - just takes mine awhile to dry! they don't smell and the wool wash i have smells SO good - my whole house smells nice when i wash and lanolize my wool :-)

i dont use wool out and about but i really like it for when we are at home. DH loves the wool soakers too - most of the time if he has his druthers DS is in a wool soaker with a prefold under it
