Follow-up appt today
In a few hours, I'm headed back to the midwife's office. I'm not seeing the same midwife that saw me in the hospital Tuesday evening/night. I wish I was, though...she's super sweet and reassuring. I'm still having contractions, but nothing regular or close together. I suppose these are just BH contractions, which is good, but I still am cautious considering they were every 2-4 minutes when I first went into the hospital.
The midwife I am seeing today is the one that walked out on me at 12 weeks when she tried to find the heartbeat. If you don't remember that story, I was laying on my back on the table, pants rolled down, and expecting to hear baby's heartbeat for the first time. DH was there, too. She put the doppler on me, moved it around for like 30 seconds, found nothing, and then put the doppler down and excused herself from the room with no explanation (and took my chart). I waited and waited, nervous that she didn't find a hb because there wasn't one to be found.
I was almost in tears when the nurse came in and said that the midwife was sick, and would be just a few more minutes. A few more than a few more minutes went by and the nurse came in again. She asked if I wanted to see another provider. YES! So, an OB came in, found the hb right away, and I could relax a little. Since that visit, I have avoided seeing that particular midwife. She's the only available midwife today, and she's also scheduled to see me at 38 weeks (again, the only one available when I need to have an appointment).
I hope her bedside manner is better today. Maybe there'll be an obvious explanation...maybe she's pg too and was having morning sickness. If that's the case, now 21 weeks later, she should be showing something. Whatever the case may be, I just want her to tell me that my cervix continues to NOT be dilated and that my contractions have chilled out enough not to have another injection of terbutaline. We shall see around 3 this afternoon.
