FYI about Curtains and Valances from Pottery Barn

Maybe this is common knowledge but it certainly wasn't for me.  When ordering curtains and valances you need to get the double add on kit as well as a single rod from PB kids.  I tried putting up my curtains and valances today only to discover that I need to spend $50 on the stupid double add on kit and will now have brackets for a single rod left over.

Not pottery barn happy right now...

  • I realized that too. I just bought a regular double rod from Bed Bath and Beyond and paid $24 for the whole set with a 20% off coupon. You can add whatever decorative finnials (sp?!) to that if you want to!

  • you don't need to get their specific double add on kit, unless you want a specific curtain rod from them.  You can get the double curtain rods at bed bath and beyond.

  • We already have the original single rod to to buy something new would mean to take everything back and pick something out at BBB.  DH is already picking up the add on.  Just wish I would've know ahead of time.
  • I used the double curtain rods from Target, same thing 1/3 of the price.
  • If you are hanging two layers of drapes/curtains you will always need a double rod.  It's not just the PBK ones.

This. I ordered sheers and heavier curtains from PBK and I knew I wouldn't be able to hang them on a single rod.  I just bought the double rod from BB&B.
