Parenting after 35

These things made me smile TODAY :)

(I was already going to post this, but Stever's post and Jen's earlier post made me realize we could ALL use it.)

These things made me smile TODAY:

1 - Going into Sydney's room first thing this morning and seeing her legs tucked under her and her cute little hiney straight up in the air.

2 - The way she just started opening her mouth and giving me a big sloppy "kiss" when I pucker up for her.

3 - Carrying her in from the car sound asleep just a few minutes ago and laying her down in her crib for a nap. Her little head on my shoulder just kills me.

4 - My mom playing Patty-Cake with her on her lap. She cracks up watching her hands clap magically.

What made YOU smile TODAY about your LO?

  • after putting S in the car, I opened up the hatch to put the stroller in and looked at my sweet angel and she gave me a half grin that just lit up my world. i swear to you, her expression said, "that's my momma and i love her so." i'm in tears right now thinking of it. tears and a SMILE of course. TODAY. and EVERY DAY actually. : )

  • -The way Mallory flapped her arms like crazy when she saw me this morning

-Seeing Mal and her dad sleeping together on the bed (we both like to cuddle up with her in bed in the morning)

-Hearing her talk ("ba-ba-ba-ba, da-da-da-da") after her bottle this morning

I could be in the very worst mood and seeing Mal just makes me smile every time, no matter what she's doing!

  • Everything about her. Everyday.

    But today specifically:

    - Watching her lie on the bed with her head on DH's chest this morning while I was getting ready for work.

    - Her playing with her feet while on the changing table.

    - The way she likes to stick her hand in my mouth while she is nursing.

    - Anticipating her reaction when she sees me this afternoon. It's a full body reaction that just makes my heart fill up.

  • - Her random sloppy kisses. I never know when to expect them. If I ask, she's usually stubborn about it, but she does when it's not expected and it makes me smile

    - I LOVE the way she greets me when I walk into the room every morning. Plus, her face lights up when she sees the dogs as well. It's so cute.

    - Seeing her shake her shaker at storytime today. I love how she gets so into the music and the shaking.

    - Watching her interact with Pirahna54's Ellie and another baby girl at storytime. I love the interaction between babies as they figure everything out. It usually consists of snatching Sophie or pacifiers back and forth, but it's so cute.

  • We went for a walk today and I stop to look at her. She gives me the biggest smile.

She sits and plays and does her motorboat mouth. It makes me laugh everytime!

I change her diaper and when I wipe her she laughs!

  • Seeing Brenna's smile and wriggle around in her crib when I walked in to get her this AM.   Today she go so excited the she couldn't even contain it and she literally yelped.

Sometimes she gets a little milk mustache around her whole mouth from sucking her paci right after she's eaten....it cracks me up! Today she had it.

And when she lifts her little chubby legs up and rotates to the side...sort of a half roll.  She will do that over and over until she's in a totally different spot....

  • This morning, when DH and I went into her room to wake her, she was already awake and shook all over when she saw the both of us

When DH picked up her out of the crib, she turned and leaned towards me...cuz she wanted her Mama!

When she nursed this morning, she reached one hand up to my face until I kissed her fingers (she always does this when she nurses)

    YesYesYes

    1. Mikey talking and rolling around between DH and I when we brought him to bed after he woke up this morning.

    2. Mikey waking up from his morning nap with a big smile on his face.

    3. Him waving and smiling at everyone at the cafe.

  • Love this thread!

I love the determined look on her face while she crawls backward.

I love the little kicks she does when she's really excited, today she was kicking while sitting up and it made her fall over.

I love her little angry frustrated face.  She tilts her head to one side, gets this extremely froggy expression, sticks out her arm and grunts.  I know I shouldn't laugh, but it's just so cute.

I love that today when we did "baby signing dvd" time, she got really excited and was grabbing at my arm and shirt at the "good parts."

  • She slept thru the night!!! This is big as I think the last time she did this was at least a month ago.

Waking up in a.m. & naptime, she just sits there quietly leaning against the blanket draped over the rail, just waiting patiently. She was so excited to see her grandma there as well.

So mushy today...I got 3 sloppy kisses one right after the next.

Her giving her big tooffy smile to grandma & grandpa & waving backwards.

This too!  And maybe my favorite moment today was when Fiona sat in Ellie's lap.  Ellie was a bit unsure for a moment and then just put her arm around Fiona!

Ellie and my dad napping together in his chair.

DH made dinner - not carry out! - and it was yummy and included guac.

Reading Jen's and everyone's stories about how amazing this time with our LO's is and knowing that I am not alone the super warm fuzzy moments!
