Babies R Us. I would have preferred Buy Buy Baby but it just wasn't convenient for our families. BRU was ok, crappy return policy and most of the people I had to deal with at the store were morons. We registered after our big ultrasound.
We are still deciding on where to register and need to register very soon because the shower invites are going out in just a couple weeks! The book Baby Bargains has been really helpful as we figure out what we need and don't need and the best brands to buy.

I put this in the amazon post too, but we registered at BBB, BRU, and amazon.com. A friend of mine told me to just do that when I was needlessly stressing over which one to choose. Here's why:
BBB takes 20% off Bed Bath and Beyond coupons for small items and has WAY better customer service than BRU. However it wasn't conveniently located for many of our guests.
BRU is better located, people are familiar with it, and it has helpful reviews when registering online (BBB does not).
Amazon was a good registry for those must-haves that we couldn't find at the stores (twin-specific products, the sound machine we wanted, etc.).
Register when you feel like it, and sooner is better than later so you can research. Just keep an eye on it to make sure items don't become unavailable (new models of car seats, bouncy seats, and so on come out sometimes and you have to update).
We registered at BRU and Target. The secret to the BRU registry is if somebody gets you something you didn't register for,and you don't want it, just go an add it to your registry and you should have NO problem returning it!
Re: Registry
Babies R Us and Land of Nod... I have to be honest, I couldn't wait to register! I started on the small, non-gender things around 3 months!
