We put in a newborn headrest in Alyssa car seat (I think it was a snugglie or something) and I took that out at about 2mos and put in the headrest that came with her Graco Snugride. I just took that one out about 2wks ago bc I worried it was making her too warm. Someone posted earlier though that they are not supposed to have the headrests in their seats above 11lbs- but nobody could figure out exactly why. I think if your lo is supporting their head well, then you should be ok.

We probably kept it in too long. I think until around 3 months. It just looked warm and comfy. But in reality, it may have been too small at that point and in the way.

We still have ours in... mostly because we have to drive on gravel with a bunch of pot holes every day unless we don't leave the house. I have trouble keeping MY head steady and I know they're coming! She doesn't seem to mind and it's a really wide one, it touches the sides of her carseat, so it's really just a little protection from her knocking her head on the sides of her seat!

We had a kidopotamus full body support and we just took it out last week. Not only was she not really needing it anymore, but it was made of fleece and it's just so hot! She still tips her head a bit in the carseat, but it's not floppy anymore.
We actually took ours out like 2 weeks ago. It was made of towel like material and was making him super hot and sweaty. It doesn't help that the interior of my car and the car seat are both black either though. But he's pretty strong already and the normal head support thing is still in there and that seems to be sufficient.
