NBR: So annoyed with Gmail

For some reason my account has been disabled and I am required to give my phone number so they can send me an access code via text message. This is BS. I don't want text messages, I don't want to give out my number to Google and I just want to check my e-mail.

The error message says that accounts are usually disabled due to violation of the TOS.  I can't imagine what TOS I could possibly have violated and I am very annoyed right now.  

I have filled out their stupid complaint form and am waiting on an e-mail to my Comcast account since I can't use Gmail. Super Angry

    That is so odd!  I hope they get it fixed quickly.  I would think it has to be some kind of error on their end saying you violatd TOS right? What a pain!

    Gmail often gets hacked... I wonder if its a scam?  Hopefully Google can help you when they get back to you.  DH's gmail was hacked a few times and it was pretty bad - he called Google and they were able to fix it within an hour or two.

    The fact that it may be a spam or a spoof is another reason I am not putting my phone number in.

    I just had the same problem, I couldn't get email on my BB so I logged on from my home computer.  It was the same message you were getting so I sent an email directly to Google to confirm it was legit.  It was and literally took 30 seconds to fix after I put in my phone number.

    Maybe I should just put in my number.  I just don't want to get spammed with all kinds of texts. I pay per text. I don't bother with a data plan because I am not a texter.

    I did this about a week ago and haven't received anything else since I got the access code.  I think you should be okay.
