Any Match.com success stories on here?

:) Since my divorce should be final any day now I decided to test the waters and sign up for the 3 day trial. I'm hoping to find out if there are any normal guys mixed in with all the internet crazies LOL

I think there was an article in People this week about this very thing!  Good luck!

  • Well, I guess it depends on how you define "success" :)  I met DH on match.com and we now have two beautiful little ones (though he and I have had our moments lately...lol)  My good friend also met her fab hubby on match, so it does work.

Honestly, if I were doing it all over again (especially now that I'm older and have children in the picture), I would entertain eharmony.com instead, simply b/c they do a lot of the filtering and matching for you - seems like you might find a better match more quickly and will less "frogs" to kiss :)

Good for you for getting out there - good luck and hope you find a great match! :)

  • One of my BF's met her DH on match. They've been married 3 years and have a 1 year old boy.

  • My DH and I met through Match.com.  It is just another avenue to meet people.  And as long as you use it properly and have reasonable expectations, it can be a wonderful venue.

However, just like any other way you meet people, you can/will run into strange and scary people.  You need to be just as safe online as you would going to a bar.

  • DH and I met through Match.com.  We've been together for ~7 years and have been married for 3.5.  He signed up for a free week and found me.  I found him after just 2 weeks, but I had signed up (and paid) for a 3 month trial.  He told me to keep it and keep looking just in case, but he was not going to sign up and see where things went with us.  We had a lot of fun sitting at his house looking at my matches and laughing about them.  He actually knew one of the guys and took me to where he worked just so I could see how NOT a match for me he was.  LOL  Anyway ... I found that there were a few really good guys mixed with the crazies.

I tried eHarmony at the same time and found it to be very tedious.  They have made some changes in the way it works since then I think.

  • One of our good friends met his fiance on match.com. They got married last year.

  • Yep!  We are =)  Met in 02, married in 04, see siggy for little ones =)
  • we didn;t meet on match.com but we did meet online--through jdate.  But we do know a couple who met through match.com.  They've been married 5 years and have a 1 year old and are both successful, normal people:)
  • We know 2-3 couples who are very happily married for SEVERAL years, lots of kids (one couple has 5 :)..... I agree, that's it's just like meeting someone anywhere else, you just have to be smart about who you talk to/meet with/etc., just as if you were anywhere else.
