Lightning nipple? wtf

So I have had zero issues with BF so far. No latching issues, sore, cracked bleeding nipples, nothing. And all of the sudden yesterday and today I have been getting this like shooting sensation in my nip on the left side. Wtf is this? It hurts real bad and I'm gonna be pissed if it can't easily be fixed.Anybody else felt something similar or have an idea what it might mean?

    Didn't you get lightning boob and lightning vag while you were pregnant? I get lightning nip, too. I think it's just random sensitivity - is it not going away?

    Nope, I never got it while I was pg. It comes and goes but I have noticed it a lot the last two days. On the other board they told me I have a plugged duct or thrush? Then I Googled. And I am now confused cause the info on that stuf is so vague. And what Dr. do you even call for boob problems? The OB?

    If it were thrush I think you'd have other symptoms - itchy nips, white stuff in Gabe's mouth (not milk tongue which can be wiped off). If it were me and I were concerned, I'd call the pedi and ask. My pedi is the one who's been helping with any BF issues I've had. I guess you have nothing to lose by trying the clogged duct remedies from Babies 0-3 months (saw your XP and read the responses). When I get lightning nip, it's very very intermittent and doesn't happen often enough for me to be concerned. I'd say anything painful warrants a phone call. WDYT?

    I get a fleeting and sometimes quite painful but like I said goes as soon as it comes sensation when I'm engorged.  Does this happen when you need to feed LO?
