People keep asking me what I am going to wear after the baby. Is anyone else buying a few non-maternity clothes that are bigger than the size you would normally wear? Do you have a plan for after baby clothes?
I'm planning on wearing whatever fits and is comfortable. Most likely "lounge wear" around the house and flowy dresses if I'm out & about. I don't plan on spending money on new clothes....I've spent enough on maternity stuff the last few months!
I will probably wear a few of my maternity clothes/dresses for a while. I also have a few outfits that I bought at the beginning of my pregnancy that are in a bigger size because I was not ready for maternity clothes yet. I don't know if I will be able to wear my prepreg clothes with the belly bandit and just not button them.
You'll definitely want loose fitting pants for the first few days or week- I don't think I got out of pajamas for quite a while! And most days I don't know why I even bothered putting on a shirt lol
August is the hottest month of the year here (west texas). I plan on purchasing quite a few summer dresses when they all go on clearance for Fall clothing (normally happens after the 4th of July or so). Otherwise I will wear yoga pants, shorts, and tank tops around the house.
It depends. With dd I was lucky and fit into my pre pregnancy clothes that next week. If that doesn't work this time around, I will just wear comfy clothes, but I will not buy bigger clothes when I don't anticipate on wearing them for long.
I just bought some stretchy shorts from Walmart for this time ( a size bigger than what I would normally wear for the first couple of weeks.....I didn't want to wear anything with zippers or a button for a while with my other two...just because of the bigger belly.
oh gosh no I think that would be a waste. You'll still fit into more maternity items that you'd like for the first couple weeks. Also, your body isn't the same for some months even if the weight falls off so things that worked for you before aren't necessarily going to just work in a larger size now. And conversely, I found myself able to wear things that I normally wouldn't. I ended up giving it a few weeks and then shopped a few sales for things that fit. Don't spend a ton even then because you're still settling. Also, several nursing bras (especially if you're busty) can come up so high that you're pretty restricted in the kind of tops you can wear without showing your bra.
Ditto! I'm not buying any clothes until I've lost the baby weight, or ya know what I can of it. I've got lots of comfy stuff to get me thru awhile LOL. I also have a belly band that I can wear with my pre pregnancy jeans, that is if my butt fits in them!!! =]
Yoga pants, dresses, pj pants.. comfy stuff. I have at least one pair of jeans thats a size bigger than the rest of my pants, so I'm pretty confident I'll be able to fit into those if I need to a few weeks pp
I barely even have any maternity clothes to begin with... I've been wearing a lot of skirts (with elastic waistbands) that I've had for years and sweatpant-shorts type things... Gauchos (sp?) Many Old Navy items that I already had that are stretchy, flowy tops ...
Yoga pants, flowy tops, maternity jeans the first couple of weeks or jeans in a size or 2 (or 3, depending on much weight you gained!), skirts, dresses..
I stocked up on yoga pants and nursing tanks and wore them everyday for the first month (I didnt leave the house - its kind of a cultural tradition) after that I wore maternity jeans and loose tops, or dresses.
I've got a full six weeks of maternity leave, and I'll be surprised if I get out of my pajama pants the entire time. The only thing I plan on having around is extra t-shirts and towels, because my boobs leaked like crazy and I was constantly doing laundry with DD.
I still wear lots of my PP loung-ish clothes so I will continue to wear those and then 'reward' myself w/a litle shopping trip after I get back to a size I am hapier at
I haven't bought any maternity clothes, I just bought things in larger sizes (M/L instead of S, etc.) so I plan on wearing those things for the first few weeks. I've basically been wearing nothing but dresses for the past 3 months anyhow, so its perfect for summer!
