Torn between two themes...help please

I am co-hosting a shower for a friend of mine with another one of her friends. I had planned on doing a safari theme because that is what she was going to decorate her nusery with, but then she ended up not doing that. She doesn't really have a nursery theme, but has used some owls in the decorating. I was going to do an owl themed shower, which is pretty popular right now and I found a lot of ideas. When I met with the other girl, she suggested doing a punk rock themed shower since our friend is a rocker chick. They did a halloween themed wedding, so I think she might really like a punk rock baby shower but I don't know how to do it without making it look strange. Any suggestions?

I would stick with the owl theme overall because it's just going to be a whole lot easier to work with. Just cause mom's a rocker, doesn't mean the baby will be : /

i vote for the rock theme. if you google rock n roll baby shower and click on images, you should get some ideas. mainly using gutairs and other insterments as decorations. if you did games you could match quotes for songs that have baby in them to the title/band. and if its a girl, hot pink and zebra stripe are very cute and punkish.

I like the owl theme best as well. You can find things for a punk rock baby shower theme if you google.

honestly, I'd just ask the guest of honor which she'd prefer.. and what she thinks her guests would prefer.. she might think the punk rock theme is awesome, but depending on the type of guests coming it could be inappropriate.

This. The baby shower happens before the kid is born and is therefor a party for the mom. If she will like it more, go for it. Also Ive seen some really cute rock themed baby shower stuff. The guests will still be bringing items for the baby off of the registry so the decor and games are for the mom.

I completely agree! Plus if she had a halloween themed wedding then the people closest to her know her personality and obviously are okay with it. I wouldn't go hard core punk but you can definitely have fun with that theme! I love the idea and if it is a surprise for the mama to be I think she'd love that you tried to make it special and personalized for her!

punk rock owl?

I LOVE owls... but that would be a good theme for me. Since the shower is for her, you might be better off going with punk rock.

Totally Punk Rock Theme! I'm due in September with our 1st child- girl. My husband plays guitar and is lead singer in a band. Very Sublime/incubus like. So the theme of the shower they are throwing me is "Rockstar Diva". All the decorations will be hot pink, black and silver. If you google that idea under google images, you'll find tons of cute ideas! It's a very trendy theme and if you've got a trendy mom- why not?!?! Even the older people that will be coming to my shower that heard the theme have commented on how cute and appropriate the theme is!

I was thinking this exactly...50% of the ladies at my shower were over 50 years old...I think they would have been very turned off by a punk rock shower. They expected a "traditional" shower. Fortunately, I wanted a traditional shower too.

I say do the rock theme- hot pink and black are really in right now and they have alot of great plate wear and etc out there. The owl theme couls turn out alittle boring.
