Hey sorry to keep paging you but I need your knowledge!
In the last year we have had 2 out of the 3 cats get pretty bad UTI's. They are on Wellness CORE and we add water to their "dinner" meal to get them extra fluid (plus they get some wet food mixed with the dry and water at night). Is there anything else we can be doing to prevent these problems?
Also, I have priced it out already and we just cannot swing switching them to an all wet-food diet financially and keeping them on the same quality of food.
Re: **Pixy** Cat question
Can you supplement one feeding with wet food?
Something we did to greatly increase their water intake was to get them a pet fountain. They love drinking from "running" water.
Where are the litterboxes? Are they able to access them without interruption at all times? You might add another box or two so they can go whenever they want.
We do supplement their "dinner" meal with wet food. We use Merricks.
They can definitely access their litterboxes at all times and we have a total of 4. We are even adding water to their "dinner" meal to make it more gravy-like and mushy and we are still having this problem. I just dont know what else we can do.
The vet recommended a special Science Diet formula (not our regular vet) which of course we wont use. But I dont know if there is a better type of food for these situations, other than exclusively wet.
My final suggestion is that maybe the UTIs aren't clearing up completely and that's why they keep coming back. We had to do 2 rounds of antibiotic, one really extended, before it cleared up here.
