Angel kisses and Stork bites?

I have been told that the Angle Kisses (on the face) fade and go away completely, but that the Stork Bites (on the back of the head/neck), don't go away.

DH is forever asking me, "what if his birthmark on his forehead doesn't go away". Well, what if? I'm thinking so what, that it's part of him and what makes him, him, kwim? but he seems concerned.

What has everyone else been told?

Oh and he also has 2 stork bites. One on the back of his neck and one on the back of his head (but of course hair, will cover these).

Re: Angel kisses and Stork bites?

  • DS had an angel kiss on his forehead as well. It did fade and now the only time you see it is if he gets mad. When he was an infant it was very noticeable. I don't remember when it seemed to fade but it's been a lng time so I would say by the time he was a year old????  Not sure about the stork bites.

  • DS has angle kisses on the tops of both eye lids.  Our doc said they will eventually fade and go away.  I'm not sure if they have actually started fading or if I'm just used to seeing them now.  I don't really notice them anymore, but they are still there.

He has a big one on his forehead and one on each of his eyelids too. I'm like you and have gotten so used to seeing them, that I don't even notice them anymore unless someone says something about them.

Our oldest daughter was born with a birthmark on her cheek.  At first we were concerned, but you're right - now it's a part of her.  We have looked into options of removing it, but if we do I'll really miss it.

  • I had a Stork Bite on my forehead as a baby and now LO does. Mine went away completely before I turned 3. You can kind of tell it is there if I get angry, but just barely. LO has one on his forehead and on the back of his head and I think they'll probably go away over time, too.

  • My daughter had angel kisses on both eyelids.... her right eye had the larger one that extended further onto her forehead.... both completely faded way before her first birthday I would say by 4 or 5 months.
  • DD has a very large one on her forehead, one on each eye lid and under her nose.

I stress out a lot over it....but, DH isn't too concerned.  I just know how mean girls can be, and don't want her to be picked on.

  • Our pedi told us that it usually takes about a year for the angel kisses to go away and that the stork bites may or may not fade in that same amount of time.
