TTC After a Loss

Let's talk thyroid, anemia and folic acid

Does anyone have hypothyrodism or anemia?  I read yesterday that taking folic acid at the same time as synthroid is harmful because the thyroid does not absorb into the bloodstream.  I also read that people with anemia have to be careful during pregnancy because of folic acid.  So, the question is, what is your doctor doing about your thyroid/anemia to ensure that you have a healthy pregnancy next time around?  I am starting to wonder if my loss had something to do with these complications....

Re: Let's talk thyroid, anemia and folic acid

  • Well, I have had hypothyroidism through all 3 of my pg's and it was not the cause for my 2 mc's. I take my synthroid at night. (Yeah I know they prefer that you take it in the am, but in 7 years of doing this I have not had a problem and yes my Dr. knows I do this.) I take my prenatals in the am.

As long as you take them far enough apart it should be ok.

You could take synthroid at night, folic acid in the am and iron at lunch if you are really worried about it.

    Good luck!
